Me and my husband went to The Home Depot in Alton and got throwndoubt for being homosexual. We were attacked by 3 of the employees and they had a guy come up in attack us. You threaten to beat me I did and the things he said he was gonna do to my rectum was unbelievable. I called the office thus and got screened out by 2 of the people that worked there, taking up for them. No longer allowed to go because I'm gay. Alton home depot is against homosexuality bad.

It's with a heavy heart that I write this review for Home Depot, as my experience over the past year has been nothing short of a nightmare. My family and I have spent nearly $30,000 at this store, and the troubles we've encountered have left us utterly frustrated. Our first issue arose when we tried to order appliances online using gift cards. To our dismay, Home Depot charged us double the amount, and resolving the situation proved to be an ordeal that took far too long. When our appliances were finally delivered, we discovered that they had sent us an electric range instead of the gas range we had specifically requested. This led to another couple weeks of waiting for the correct appliance to arrive. Our next endeavor was to have two custom doors ordered and installed by Home Depot. Unfortunately, this process was riddled with problems. Firstly, Home Depot failed to pay the contractor for both doors, which resulted in only one door being installed. To make matters worse, when the contractor arrived to install the back door, we discovered that it wasn't even the correct door. Now, we find ourselves waiting for a call from Customer Order Specialist (COS) to sort out this fiasco.Throughout this entire experience, we have been let down by Home Depot's lack of organization, poor communication, and unfulfilled promises. I sincerely hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale for others who may be considering making large purchases from this store. Until significant improvements are made, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Home Depot for any major home improvement projects.

I went into the Alton, IL Home Depot for two gallons of paint. I had the exact formula, brand name and codes required just as I have done in the past. This time however, the young girl took my info, mixed the paint and I left. Since I've done this before I did not think to check the formula. Of course it was made wrong by one of the young ladies that was working the Paint section. I went the following day to return it, however, they do not take mixed paint back. That's fine, but I at least wanted to spend double and get the correct paint. This time a different young lady was there and could not figure out how to get my formula right. So I left with my original crappy colored paint. Luckily, I went to the Edwardsville, IL Home Depot who was not only able to get the formula right, but also explained to me what the other store did wrong. My info was correct and the Alton store didn't know what they were doing. Don't get mixed paint from Alton. Go to Edwardsville.

We were shopping for guarge DOORS. Went to Manards and found some we liked. We were looking at HD when a salesman started talking to us about the guarge doors we like. We told him we found some we liked at Manards and were going to order because they would give us 11% rebate. We were told HD would match that but would be given store credit not a cash rebate. Since we're building a new house that was no problem. We sent our rebate in and was refused. Went to store Manger, she said we never give a 11% discount and claimed sale person no longer works there so she couldn't confirm. If we would have known that would have ordered from Manards. Since both stores have a 3 month lead time we had to accept the 5% discount HD gave us. Will now shop for all other items for new house at Manards

Love this Big Box hardware store. It may be a major chain, but the customer service is on par with a small town hardware store. Oh, wait it is a small town hardware store, that just happens to be a major chain. Moving to the Alton area from the big city of STL, the first thing I noticed on entering this Home Depot was the cleanliness. The HD close to my home was always kinda grungy and unkept. This one is kept fairly clean and well organized. The next thing that surprised me was the customer service. The associates here, actually approach you and ask if you need assistance. They don't avoid eye contact when you meet them in an aisle. The ones who have assisted me thus far have been knowledgeable in their given area. A new feature that I've learned to take advantage of at this location, is ordering items on line that are available at this location and having them shipped to the customer service counter for pick-up. Damn, this makes life so much easier. In the city, I was not a fan of HD, but this one is winning me over. When: Multiple visits within the last 6 months. Why: Bought a new house

The Home Depot in Alton, IL came to a retirement village last spring and planted approx. 15 flower beds. They put in dozens of flowers--all donated by them. Not only that, the ten or so workers from the store ALL volunteered their time to do it. I thought it to be a tremendous testament to them as a company, to care about the community around them. The manager there that day was very nice, too. In addition, though I am a dunce when it comes to home improvement, workers at any Home Depot always seem to make me feel comfortable and confident. Thank you HD. BL
