My husband and I decided to purchase two geckos last night. There were not enough staff to assist. We went to the front of the store to checkout and the male did not know if they needed to be fed or if they had already been fed for the day and he wasn’t able to answer any questions. His response was, “I don’t know I just got here at 6.” Petco sells these animals with little to no education regarding habitat, proper handling, potential for salmonella exposure, etc. Horrible experience and service.

I was looking for a small pen and the worker was AWESOME. I was looking for a small pen with a top and they did not have thatvShe made a suggestion to get a small pen and go to the dollar tree to get a shower curtin. I had to have the pen that day, so I could not do an online order.

I am beyond impressed with the grooming at Petco in Alton. I have a large male English Cream golden. We brush him and bathe him regularly but I thought why not get a good de-shed for the hotter months. We have never professionally groomed him. He was nearly unrecognizable! He was expensive as a pup and has good blood lines but looked average to me. Until he got groomed! Boy went from hood to bougie quick. There are now no curls or waves in his coat, shine all the way down his coat and feels like silk. He is lighter and zero shedding three days later. Nice work! I see the value and will be back. We could take him to a dog show and win a title the way he looks.

Helpful workers, but crickets can take time to get due to low staff. Animals appear to be taken care of well and have had no issues when trying to custom order off their site.

I personally feel like for a pet only store they are a little overpriced. I also don’t recommend getting snakes from here, I have purchased 3 in the past and none of them survived longer than a few months. I will say that they honored their return policy on one of them, that’s why they get 3 stars instead of 2.

We have been going to the Alton Petco for years to have the girls groomed. They treat my babies so good and they love going. Ashlynne G has been grooming my older girl since she was a puppy and Taffy just recently started grooming my younger dog. They always do a great job on my doodles.
