I was absolutely disappointed with my visit, to the point that I left after only being there for 45 minutes. Pulled in the parking lot driving around the abandoned building, thought it was unfortunate for the hotel. Second was the broke down car that has obviously been there a while. The service at the desk was less then desired, room had a musty odor and looked to not have been updated in years or even cleaned, bed was nothing but pointed springs. The pool house was the last straw went to get in the pool, no towels and the door to the outside was broken. I left and said screw it im not begging for a refund with the moody child behind the counter. I ran out of there my skin was crawling with disgust.I will avoid best westerns from here on out the experience put a bad taste in my mouth.Rooms: Dirty, outdated musty half the outlets were out of orderSafety: Doors to get into the hotel were less then secure when the latches were busted

The hotel was right off the freeway, however it was hiding behind an abandoned building. All else was great, even the breakfast. A full tastey breakfast was served with a good selection of food.Safety: In a quiet section of town, despite proximity to the freeway. Parking lot was well lit, so It felt secure.

My room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also good. I enjoyed my stay here. Last, the manager kindly mailed me something I had forgotten in the room. If I am ever back in the area, I would be happy to stay here again.

Anyone who does a lot of traveling knows the feeling of being in a “driving daze “ and missing your exit. This exact scenario happened to me just recently on my way home from wonderful fly fishing trip with my son in the high Uintas in Utah. Being exhausted from driving I had to stop at the next exit off I-80 . I took the exit and found myself in Annawan , IL. Never noticed this town in all my trips crossing the country!!! My dad used to say “everything happens for a reason “ well…. Experiencing some of the worst hotel stays on the I-80 corridor. I was shocked and thrilled by what I found at the Best Western!!! Reasonable room rates , pet friendly ( Bella loved it! Plenty of room to run and play!) , spotless and inviting rooms , baths, and common areas . Bed was sooo comfortable!! Bedding, pillows, linen, bath towels all of very good quality and clean!! The staff are all courteous, helpful and happy!!! Breakfast was a dream! Fresh fruit, bagels, eggs, sausage etc! This by far the best of the “chain” motels I have encountered on I-80!!! They truly set the standard !!

I’ve actually never written a review. My experience will be different than others, but ultimately, what prompts me to write this review is a lack of general humanity and respect. But I’ll start with the room and the hotel.Hotel is small with a strange entrance and is tucked away. It’s a Best Western in the middle of not too much. You don’t expect too much.Walking in, the person who checked me in was nice. They couldn’t accommodate a single room so I had to pay for a double and two guests even though it was just me. But that’s fine. I checked in at 4:21.I got to my room, and it wasn’t very clean. I’m not a person to complain and I had been driving for 12 hours. I was tired. But I’m also observant, so these are the things I noted in my room:Cigarette burns in the curtains, four or five strange stains on the bed and bedding, outlet next to bed doesn’t work which is why the alarm clock remains unplugged, dead bug next to the bed, toilet handle plastic broken enough to pinch a child’s finger, stains on floor, generally sticky and generally dusty.Again, I was just going to stay and sleep but shortly after entering i got called for a family emergency. This was around 4:35 or so. I called the front desk and said I had to check out, and ran down. I was at the desk waiting in the line for four or five minutes. When I got to the desk, I said I had to check out because I was having a family emergency and had to hurry up and go. Really at this point I’m not thinking about expressing my feelings about the room and everything I observed that was off about it. I am having an emergency and just am trying to leave. The person behind the desk tells me they will charge me a 35.00 fee because I was in the room for more than thirty minutes. My final receipt reads 4:52. So from check in at the front desk to check out, I was on site from 4:21 to 4:52. 31 minutes. And in the middle of my family emergency they decide they would grant no leniency and make sure to get their 35.00 dollars.I’ve stayed so many other places that I know would not look to grab some money out of your pocket during a clear emergency. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone..

Would recommend this hotel. Was well staffed (very unusual these days) and everyone was helpful and friendly. Room was clean and we enjoyed the pool and outdoor area. Downtown Annawan was cute and a 10 minute walk. Frequented both the Purple Onion (old-timey diner) and Mick’s Place (really nice bar) and would recommend both. There was at least one other place (bakery/ice cream) that we didn’t try but it looked good. Lots of choices for the size of the town. We appreciated having eating choices close that were more than fast food. Location was very convenient as it was right off the highway. Free breakfast was more than just a continental breakfast. Lots of options. As good as you’ll get at a free breakfast.

Great stay, we showed up at 4am and got the last room available in about an hour radius when we were super ready to be off the road. Very friendly and gave us a late checkout to get some extra sleep. Manager greeted me by name in the morning and offered us coffee and breakfast. Excellent service!!
