Edit: the manager was very helpful and is actively trying to get me a lower rate. Tip: go straight to your location’s manager and don’t go through their online corporate support.
I have not had any issue with the staff or facility itself, however I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed because my monthly rate is increasing nearly 40%—just four months into my lease. When I chatted them for clarification, customer service representative simply said it’s due to high demand and that they reserve the right to raise prices whenever they want per the lease.
Of course demand is high—this is one of the busiest moving seasons in the Chicagoland area. But no advance notice, no explanation, and no consideration for how disruptive this is? Storage isn’t a service I can easily cancel. This would require renting a U-Haul, finding a new facility, and moving everything again. It’s a major burden.
This policy feels deeply unfair, especially so early in my lease. I chose Public Storage for its affordability and reliability—now I feel taken advantage of.
Please reconsider this approach, or at the very least, offer more transparency and flexibility for your customers.

I used the 1600 East Davies facility temporarily, as I am a commercial driver and needed somewhere to store my belongings. I enjoyed speaking with Chris the facility manager and he was very friendly and helped me stop my ongoing payment as I had moved out . He even stated I would be refunded a portion because of my short usage of A024.

Theres literally poop all over the floors and amongst the walls everytime i go on the second floor. Ended up finding LITERAL ANIMAL POOP inside my storage unit INSIDE my items. Absolutely disgusting how dirty it always is everytime i go in yet my rent price keeps going up.

Great experience. Chris, property manager was friendly, helpful, and kept great communication with me. The storage space was well kept, clean and they provided a public cart which was very helpful to move all my things in.
