We bought our first OONI wood-fired pizza oven this summer. I was lucky to find a story about Janie's Mill in Bon Vivant, a culinary journal. I ordered a bag of flour and some dough making supplies. We had a family party to try our luck at pizza making and it was a huge hit! The flour was wonderful and I love that I am buying from a mill with not only a great story, but amazing quality products. I've already ordered my 2nd 25# bag :)

Have been experimenting with breading with the ancient grains. Einkorn bake turned out great and not knowing too much about it, saw superior nutritional values in combo with a subtle soft nutty flavor. Sliced warm, it begged for some Irish butter. Later, when the bread cooled, it begged for a tuna salad pairing which was awesome!
Sorry, not a pro at all, but play with these for nutrition and taste.
Also, have combined the rolled oats, rye and barley for awesome hot "oatmeal". Superior when served warm with maple syrup and buttermilk the way great-granddad Vincent from Kentucky ate it. But now we eat it that way and these different rolled grains give that slight chewyness to it that I crave! It would be good to get some steel cut capabilities, as that kinda adds to the "berry" aspect of the hot cereal ala McCanns. No hurry - so good the way it is!

I love Janie’s Mill!! I’ve used their bread flour to feed my starter and make sourdough loaves for some time now, and it’s such amazing quality flour. It produces great results, and I cannot see myself using other flours now.

I have recently become obsessed with sourdough, and I kept reading about the wonderful difference that freshly milled flour makes. I saw Janie’s Mill mentioned on a sourdough Facebook page and decided to give them a try. I’m so glad that I did! I ordered a 25-lb. bag of the organic high protein bread flour, and it’s amazing! Wonderful smell, texture, and taste! My sourdough starters love it! I have used it for sourdough chocolate chip cookies and a sourdough boule so far. I have already placed a second order for more bread flour, and I ordered the red fife and spelt as well. Days after my first order, I’m already a repeat customer! ?

The flour this mill produces is absolutely marvelous to work with! I am a Type II Diabetic and the products Janie’s Mill provides, allows me to make and consume grain products that have nutrients and high protein and lower carbs! It is not easy to find unbleached, unenriched, flour in the grocery! And if you do, it’s very expensive! For years, this has been the problem they took out all the nutrients and just added filler products!My first batch of bread was making a sweet dough recipe for a pizza crust and a loaf of bread! I used a combination of the sifted Durham flour, and the high protein flour! The result was wonderful! And the taste was Amazing! I cannot believe the difference in flavor when you get honest to goodness real flour! Not only do you smell the grain you can taste the goodness that comes from it! And I can enjoy delicious grain products in my diet again!One thing for sure, you get what you pay for, and you are getting quality, organic, honest to goodness flour! They do have lower gluten grains! I like the fact that their website continues on with the experience and shares recipes and knowledge in using the different types of products they offer! I am so happy that I have found these folks! God Bless, and thanks much!P.S. I placed my second order a couple days ago and have a very large amount of wonderful products coming so I can make goodies for my Christmas baskets!

I have purchased several types of corn meal, flour and wheat berries. For all the labor and quality practices that go into growing this product, I feel the price is reasonable. I especially like the tips for bread baking (still learning the value of percentages) and the sharing of pictures from the talented bakers that post. I found Janie's Mill when I was searching for organic corn meal and have been very pleased with the quality of everything I have purchased. The symbols showing the types of baking for which each flour/grain works best is extremely helpful and the variety of flours/grains you offer is amazing.

Janie’s Mill is fantastic! We live in MN close to Canada & for years I bought freshly milled Red Fife flour in Thunder Bay. Then COVID struck & I had to find a new place to get freshly milled flour. Well, Janie’s Mill not only had Red Fife the had High Protein, Dark Rye, Durum, and many more. The flours are amazing with NO aftertaste. I make whole wheat, rye, pumpernickel, white, and many other breads. I subscribe & have been happily baking bread with Janie’s Mill flours for over a year.

This flour has changed my life. I was gluten intolerant for many years. I was experimenting with baking gluten free bread and during the pandemic had trouble finding yeast but they were still selling it. I purchased some stone-ground einkorn because it was naturally low in gluten and found that I could eat the bread without trouble. I have expanded and added rye and many other types of flour to my baking and started to use the bloody butcher cornmeal and polenta too. The quality, nutrition, and price have kept me close and I am so thankful for their dedication to producing quality products. Hope your experience is as positive as mine. I will continue to shop and purchase their flour before any other on the market.
