It took three months to cancel a life insurance policy, and once cancelled I had to keep bothering them for weeks to get a refund of prepaid premium. Will not do business with Protective again.

I worked there for 12 years. They moved me across the country from Los Angeles to Chicago and I was the only employee who chose to do so, when they were closing the office. Only to be laid off after sucesfully managing.to turn around two departments a claims unit and cusromer service department that disnt even work on the same products into a well oiled Machine with no turnover and a great staff that could strp up or step out to help other units. But becuase i was making california wages I was laid off leaving those departs to a grean young supervior (whom I brought on board )who made about 30 thousand less than i was making , who ledt shortly after so No loyalty from the company but thats evertywhere you go now. They have been bouught by some gigantic Asian company that is buying up many of them. So I dont know anything about the culture there now. All of the salesmen that I worked with are no more because of the Recession and they moved a few departmensts to the headquarters in Birmingham. The insurance they sale are the kinds you buy when you purchase a car. The only problems where what the dealership tells a person is to make a sale and many people never take the time to read it. Until they need it. And what they were told is usually not the same as the contract they signed. Lots of nice people from way up there in Illinois and lots of Wisconson cheeze heads in that office. Not a lot of college-educated people, mostly work their way up kinda vibe. Good and not-so-good products just like any insurance except they are not a tiny company but not a big one so if you complain loud enough u can get what u want, just complain where all of the big wigs are and they are not in that office for sure.
