I can't believe that anyone would ever give Phillips menswear and Peter anything but a five star rating. We have used Phillips and Peter ever since we moved in Barrington in 1979. They are the best in every way regarding service personality, quality of merchandise, and just overall service is over the top. If you ever want to have superior quality, no one beats Phillips in the entire Chicagoland area.

I went in on a Wednesday afternoon to see if I could have some simple measurements taken for a suit I was having custom made. The gentleman working looked at me flatly when I presented the exact measurements I needed taken and just said, “no,” Slightly shocked at his reply I asked if he knew anywhere that would take the measurements for me because my tailor is out of state. He said because I wasn’t purchasing my clothing piece from them they wouldn't measure me, even after I offered to pay for the measurements. Disappointing that this is how they treat service members and are too caught up in trying to make a buck that they can’t provide a simple service. Have fun catering to the upper echelon and leaving the rest of your potential customer base behind.

Very friendly sales staff. I had a custom-made shirt that fit perfectly. Tailor performed suit alterations that were done right on the first try.

Phillip's is an outstanding Men's Wear store. It is almost impossible to find a clothing store like this dedicated solely to quality men's clothing. I went here in search of a suit for my wedding. This was in conjunction with all the high-end department stores, Ralph Lauren etc.After meeting Peter, the owner, he suggested I opt for a made-to-measure suit from Hart Shaffner Marx. I tried on a ready to wear jacket in a 37s and it fit very well. Most stores and brands only offer even chest sizes which did not fit me correctly.I then sat down with Peter to go over construction and fabric selection, it was obvious Peter knew a lot about the garment's quality, construction and fabric offerings. He was explaining to me what different weaves of fabric offer etc.The suit came in and after a few fittings and alterations it turned out fantastic. Peter, Terry, and the rest of the crew at Philip's were a joy to work with. It was always fun seeing the guys here and fine-tuning details and talking shop. Most of all, Phillips, really cares about pleasing the customer, they want you to leave happy and most of all looking great.Peter's knowledge in the business is profound, and once you get a conversation going with him it is hard to not lose time in the store.

From putting together the perfect attire for a formal to casual wedding, to a custom tuxedo, and everything in between, there's no better service than what you get at Phillips from Peter, Terry, Chris and the team. Love this place!

My husband and I walked in yesterday. My husband told a white haired gentleman he was looking for a light blue dress shirt. We were told, "We make all of our own clothes here." (We have purchased dress shirts and sweaters off the floor there in the past without such statements being made.) Trying to explain his concerns, my husband said he'd had a hard time finding an Oxford cloth dress shirt of hefty enough fabric. Without ever leaving his desk or pointing out options, the store representative said, "You have to be willing to put in the time. Do you want to stand there and complain, or do you want to fix the problem?" We were pretty stunned by the condescension. Clearly he did not want us in his store.

Would have been a 5 star but some guy in his white Porsche SUV destroyed it with his attitude. I pulled in early to pick up a suit for fitting and he is just staring at me. He raises his hands up and I do the same. I open my door and tells me I can't park there. I guess because I don't have a fancy car I am soliciting or some piece of trash. So I tell him it's private parking for Phillips and he agrees and then asks what I'm doing. I didn't answer him and he then asks what I'm getting. It was just rude how he treated me as if I was no one of importance because I proved there early like him. My first experience was awesome until today and it sucked how I was interrogated. Will definitely get ahold his boss for the way he treated a customs whom spent hundreds of dollars to be treated in such a manor.
