Surprised by the negative reviews in general on this location. My team and I ship out thousands of ground and priority packages a week. Every other week we bring a bath of a few hundred here. We have never had a single package not get scanned or go missing. This location does their job and does it EXCEPTIONALLY. Name the location and I have a complaint about a staff members attitude or lack of accountability when packages disappear after not being scanned… but not this branch. They are friendly 95% of the time and I see too many 1 star reviews of people not realizing that maybe workers are stressed or having a bad day… this location is by far the best USPS location in the NW suburbs. I have been to 25-30 in the last 7-10 years and this is the only branch that does it right and I have nothing but good things to say.

My package has been missent there from Palatine hub and so far, nobody cared to scan it to make it go back on track. When called, I' ve been told that they don't know when it will be scanned. Seriously? For a week nobody touches missent items? How about doing what you are paid for?

I use Barrington post office grove street all the time
I don't understand why one girl that works there always tells people they can only use a charge card???
I don't think this is right
I don't think this way the post office should work
What is the reason????

Would not file passport paper work. I had documents supporting my special circumstance but still refused to do so. What are these people paid to do all day if not their job? Lady was wearing a pink tack suit so I'm not sure if she was legitimate postmate or a crazy person having fun. Palatine location was much more helpful, and friendly.

Dropped wedding invites off on April 25th, all stamped and 1oz, literally walked in and handed them to the lady. Guess she just dumped them in the trash until they decided to finally postmark them on May 16th. This post office is such a joke and will literally lose something you hand to them directly. Go to Fox River Grove or Palatine if you want your stuff to actually be mailed. Currently waiting on a package that was supposed to be redelivered 2 days ago after a missed attempt. Honestly, USPS has taken a dive straight into the toilet with DeJoy as Postmaster General, so you'd best just hand deliver anything you would have mailed before. Maybe try smoke signals! And they're increasing prices on stamps soon? The audacity is insane.

I avoid using this post office but have to use it to hold mail. The clerks are the most ornery and unfriendly. They act like they hate their job and you are bothering them. They are reluctant in helping you and annoyed if you have to buy stamps and ask what is available. Headquarters said, as long as they don't yell at customers and don't use profanity, it's okay. Really? Why such low standards. If you don't like your job, leave. Simple.

Extremely rude old lady at the front desk…please be a little more respectful and treat your customers equally.

I paid for certified mail on 4/14/2025 for delivery of two 9x12 envelopes. Now -- 10 days later -- tracking still shows the certified mailings AT the Barrington Grove Street PO and shows nothing after that. So, I checked this morning with the PO and the supervisor claimed that certified mail is no longer scanned enroute to a destination -- that this was a new rule. I was shocked! So, I called the USPS and spoke with a representative who denied this was the case, and that certified mail is scanned at each distribution facility where it is sorted and processed for the next destination. The Barrington Grove St PO is giving out misinformation!

High clearance four wheel drive recommended for parking lot. Usually only one person working the counter, and no effort to clear lines that form during 20 minute passport appointments. They rely on customers giving up and leaving. Lots of chatter behind closed doors, though. Abysmally managed.

Definitely the friendliest staff in the region. It's a bit rundown, but I'd much rather work with Teri (I think that's her name I forgot) at the rundown Barrington office than work with Malik at the sleek Lake Zurich office. If you give this place a shot it'll surprise you.

Unbelievably unprofessional and the most disrespectful staff I’ve ever seen! Lazy and annoyed to do their job.

Made an appointment a month ago to get passports for our family of four. Arrived to learn that both the postmaster and supervisor are on vacation and the passport clerk called in absent today. And we need to reschedule. No one told us not to come in. Very frustrated.

Neglected little outpost. The potholes on both ends of the post office are so big you can easily tear a tire.
They usually only have 1 person up front.
