This is a business that has been here in Belleville for 40 years, and I had no idea, but I'm glad I found it. Stephanie greeted me upon arrival at this quaint, relaxing, comfortable wine & cheese shop. The german reisling that Stephanie recommended was delightful. Check it out!!!

The Cheesekeeper is a hidden gem located in the west end of Belleville. I only learned about them through the library and their sponsoring of the summer reading program, though they've been in business for 39 years! I visited on a Tuesday morning in June and had a nice conversation with the owner Mark. He told me all about their cheese selections and his love for the town. He recommended two cheeses- applewood smoked cheddar and one from New York. He sliced my portions straight from the block in the cooler behind the counter and gave me specific instructions on how to store it (as I'm no cheese connoisseur and needed to be told ?). I didn't end up needing the information though because the cheese didn't last more than a day, because we ate it so quickly! ?The Cheesekeeper also has a selection of wine available to pair with the cheese, as well as coffee. Mark told me about their bi-monthly cheese tastings open to the public and complete with wine tasting to pair with it. I plan to return for one of the upcoming events.
