I too experienced very late or no responses from them. Our parents used this firm for years and when I had to step in and manage their accounts it was appalling by the treatment I received. Their accountant was out with an injury and I had left several messages and got the run around for about 2 months. Then I was told our taxes were sent to another office. The day before the taxes were due I was told to go online and sign. No explanation of the taxes or why it took so long and no opportunity to ask questions. I had called many times and so did another family member. I was told our taxes were sent to the back of the pile because the previous accountant told him we probably wouldn't pay our bill anyway. I was shocked, to my knowledge my parents had always paid their bills. They also said my mother had received funds from an investment and that's why her taxes were so high. She never received those funds and we set up a meeting where the accountant declined to meet with us and sent his assistances who couldn't answer our questions. We ended up having to pay a huge tax and we don't even know why. This firm is dangerous. I would also advise looking at their "our team page". St. Clair County and Belleville are a 39 percent non-white population. It looks like they hired one woman and one male Asian, the rest are good old white boys. Way to represent and support your community. I would never recommend this firm.

I had the WORST experience with sheffel Boyle CPA. I dropped my taxes off to them on March 23rd. I told them I needed them done in order to get a home loan for a house I was set to close on may 16. After 3 weeks and no word from them I called to ask if they were planning on filing an extension. They never even attempted to let me know that they wouldn't be looking at or filing my taxes for 30 days after they were dropped off. i finally went and picked them up on April 24th and am now looking for an accountant to file my taxes after they sat untouched with Sheffel and Boyle for 32 days. With zero communication. I might lose my opportunity to purchase the home I'm under contract bc I picked them instead of a different accountant. They didn't even offer any explanation or apology when I went to get my paperwork Back... the assistant said " you better hurry out the door then and find someone to do your taxes" with zero regard or explanation or Apology.

Regardless of when we submit our documents, they always wait until the last minute, the very last minute to complete our taxes, to the point when we must take off work to drive and pick them up on the day they are due.

We too have had the exact thing happen with Paul as the previous person just posted, Jessica B. EXACTLY!! Except now we are nearly into 2 years late on one audit and 6 months late on the other. We are state funded and not having our audits nearly two years late, extension after extension, could have put us out of business. We will not be doing business with this company ever again! Stay clear or you will be out of business waiting for your audits. This company made our companies get very unfavorable attention from state funders!

I've been fortunate to have Paul Vollmer preparing my taxes for the past ten years. He has taken the stress of tax filing off of my shoulders and I have never had any issue with any of my returns. Staff is courteous and efficient. They will go out of their way to help you.

I've been working with Paul Vollmer at this location since 2015 for both personal and business taxes. Our first year went very smooth but have received terrible service since. We have yet to receive finalized taxes from him and have had to file extensions. He refuses to communicate to my husband and I've only been successful in reaching him a handful of times. I have multiple emails to him that have been ignored and we know have an attorney involved who is also being ignored by him. He has promised us multiple delivery dates and has yet to succeed with reaching any of them. We will never use this company again and would never recommend them to anyone due to this horrible experience.
