Thank you VCA Berwyn, for your quick appointment for My Nica, I was concerned for her well being. From the start of the coordinators at the desk . Then on to the Vet tech who’s was kind and caring. And on to Dr Girald who gave Nica her first exam at 8 wks I was happy to see her . She put me at ease and explained very clearly what’s going on with Nica. Thank you all for the kind experience .

I took my dog today, as I have many times for her annual appt. Last year it was $368, this year it was $590. All I hear was costs have gone up! I would say so. I will definitely be shopping around for my next annual appt for my dog.

Wish I could give 0 stars. I brought my dog for vomiting and diarrhea and asked for treatment and bloodwork. I was told my dog couldn't be seen and to make an appt for another day. I can't believe they would take turn away a senior puppy who was clearly not well.

I have been a VCA customer for a number of years, and have had positive experiences (for the most part) with the veterinary care for my dog. I think every vet has positives and negatives, and VCA seemed to have more positives than negatives, so no major complaints over the years. Up until a recent incident of which I believe negligence and blame are at play.I was given a medication by a tech for and instructed to take it twice/day. She seemed in a hurry, so that was the extent of the instruction. Fast forward a couple days, I had left the medication in my purse as this medication was optional and I decided not to administer to my dog right away. When I pulled it out to give it to her, I see a sticker on the bottle that says “refrigerate.” Since I was given no instruction by this tech to refrigerate this medication and since I had delayed the administration of the medication, I called the next day to find out if it was still viable. Apparently the team at VCA had no idea, so they had to call out to another clinic to ask this question. The answer came back later in the day that the medication was no longer viable, and that I would have to purchase another $80 bottle of medicine at my own expense. I explained that this tech never disclosed the fact that the medication needed to go in the fridge, and I would never purposefully leave medication out if I had known it was to be refrigerated.I then asked to speak to a manager, and she reiterated the same message: that I would need to pay for this bottle out of my own pocket. And that they were “covered” since the label to refrigerate was on the bottle. I asked if their tech’s are trained to disclose this information, and she said 90% of the time they do disclose it. But in this case, she did not. And that they talked to the tech following the incident so that it wouldn’t happen again. And frankly she didn’t seem to care too much about doing the right thing. It is sad to me that they admitted this is “outside of their norm” with this tech not disclosing this information, and even then, they would not replace this bottle at their expense. I’ve seen bad customer service, but this was just egregious. It truly is mind boggling to me that they are willing to lose a patient over $80… I guess it paints a clear picture about their poor management as a business.

I would recommend avoiding this clinic at all costs. While there were a few kind technicians there, the vet didn't fully listen to me and as such, my cat had to suffer a month longer than she probably should have. When I finally made the agonizing decision to put my cat down, the male technician working there was the least compassionate person I've ever met. When I paused on taking my cat to the back, he used it as an excuse to not do the job and then berated us about our decision to put our beloved cat down, saying her condition was "easily treatable".I took my cat to another place as soon as I was able, and they immediately told me way more information regarding my cat's health and conditions and recommended putting her down, with grace and mercy that day.Would give 0 stars if I could.

I had the best experience. My 16 year old dog Liberty had a terrible cough, and she was treated as if they had known her as their own. Everything was thoroughly explained to us, and we can tell Liberty is feeling better with the antibiotics. Thank you for your kind, generous, professional care of my fur baby

Read there other reviews before going here! They told me my dog had a tumor and it was all over her body and surgery would be over 7k for them to try to remove it. we were going to put her down due to not being able to afford the surgery but before we wanted to double check at a different vet they couldn’t find any trace of a tumor and saw that it was a common issue and they were able to help her get rid of it in less then two days for no where near the amount I was told by this vet. Extremely disappointed in this vet for giving my whole family a big scare thinking we were going to loss our 10 year companion. This is extremely unprofessional we almost put our dog down for no reason due to there carelessness. I strongly do not recommend this vet!

I had a 17 year old dog who was getting worse and worse. Couldn’t see, dementia, could barely walk. Today my dog told us it was her time. She cried in pain, couldn’t settle because of the pain, wouldn’t eat. It was her time. My mom called VCA first but they didn’t have an appointment (understandable) but we felt this was urgent. We couldn’t let her suffer for a moment more. As a pet owner you just know. We took her to a walk in place (animal hospital on Route 66) who charged us $70 just because we walked in (they seemed to only take walk ins) and after looking at this old dog crying, not being able to walk they said yeah she’s old with issues but we’ll have to do tests for $400. It’s unethical, anyone that saw my dog would know not to let her suffer. I called VCA myself, after bringing my suffering dog back in the car. I knew they didn’t have appointments and were closing soon but I called anyway and told them the situation and they stayed open late, examined her and let us take her out of her suffering and into doggy heaven. Thank you VCA for taking my dog out of her pain. I’ve been a customer of VCA before this situation, they took my 20 year old cat out of her misery too during Covid. I also have a 2 year old dog who is a regular. She shakes every new place she goes. Not here though, she loves the staff. And I can tell they are honest and don’t try to rip you off. Thank you VCA! Also thanks to Larry especially for helping us tonight and giving us a lock of my dogs hair before we left.

"I am taken aback" by how awful my experience as a client over the last year with VCA Berwyn has been. Baumgartner would flip flop regularly with her medical advice. She informed me that x-rays revealed a mineral mass in my cat's stomach that wasn't a concern to her, never investigated, and the X-Ray was never shown to me. She diagnosed my cat with thyroid issues and renal failure but gave me a painkiller that is not recommended for cats in renal failure. My last visit I had been pushed to make, Baumgartner didn't even look at my cat. I sat in the waiting room for half an hour expecting someone to speak with me after they returned my pet, only complimenting the style of carrier I had brought him in. The upsell pressure is heavy at this clinic and the care package club plans are an expensive joke. The lack of attention to detail is a red flag. Take your pet somewhere where the staff actually listen to your concerns.

My time with the wonderful staff was during one of the worst days of my life, saying goodbye to my 18 year beautiful kitty Alley. I walked through the doors carrying her in my arms sobbing, they rushed over to me and took us to a room right away. They took my beautiful girl and confirmed what I knew, it was time to say goodbye forever to my sweet Alley. They let me have time alone with her before they took her back, it was horrible for the obvious reason but amazing because they were so loving and kind. They didn’t rush me, not even after I was done saying goodbye, they just let me get myself together and offered nothing but kind words and comfort. The prices were exactly what we discussed over the phone not even an hour before I got there, considering the emergency service it was cheaper than I had anticipated and they were perfectly accommodating. I think many forget that this is an emergency service location so they don’t anticipate possible wait times when they make appointments. For those who feel angry about time spent waiting while at appointments here, please try to remember the staff is giving your pet the treatments they need for a healthy life while simultaneously helping others like me who have to rush there and don’t get to leave with our beloved pets. They’re accommodating all sorts of needs, please remember this while reviewing- they are giving the best care possible in all circumstances. Thank you to everyone at the VCA Berwyn Animal Hospital, you made one of the hardest moments in my life far less painful, you are wonderful!

Our dog has only been here twice once when he was young years ago and last week many years later (he is a very senior dog). He was having an emergency, his regular vet could not get him in for days and the emergency vet where he gets boarded didn't even answer the phone it just rang and rang. I call VCA and the only reason they don't get five stars is the person that answered the phone did said they could get him in later in the afternoon but I again I reiterated that this was an emergency and dog was in pain shaking and crying (he never does this, he is a very quiet dog). So they said bring him in and they will triage him. The vet tech and vet were great calling me and giving me updates. Then VCA called the next day to check up on the dog. I am glad he is doing better, he was prescribed some medicine that helped him.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Don’t recommend anyone this place. All they do is charge a ridiculous amount of money and are extremely rude. Had to go to another vet the next week because they couldn’t fix the problem with my dog but want to charge emergency room prices. If you feel like throwing your money away go to this place, Extremely disappointed.
