Not that this is going to make any difference, but our gas was turned off on October 31, 2023 due to a supposed tampering of our meter back in August. We were notified of this disconnection on November 1st. When calling to restore our service, we were told to make an appointment. The earliest appointment to have our gas service restored was on the 6th. Keep in mind this is November. It is cold and we are also human-type beings who cook their food.Here is how a -competent- business would have handled this problem.1. Notify us of the issue with adequate time to address it and avoid interruption of service. Nicor literally gave us negative 24 hours.2. Understand that this is an unprecedented circumstance and be prepared to address it in a timely manner.The representatives we spoke to were audibly so jaded by angry customers that there was a mental disconnect to our predicament big enough to tell us to “have a great day”. By previous face to face conversations I’ve had with Nicor customer service employees, their jobs evidently exist as little more than to absorb complaints. Think ‘the insurance company from The Incredibles’. We also discovered that Nicor is the only natural gas option in Bloomington, meaning they have no incentive to change their archaic “phone company”-like practices.We are lodging a complaint with the city of Bloomington. Probably futile, but we urge others to do the same.

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I’ve tried 9 times to pay a bill. Had to attempt twice to get my account set up. Now that it’s set up my log in doesn’t work. I tried to get my login info emailed to me but the emails never come. I tried to pay in person, but none of the payment centers seem to be in use. Now my landlord is upset cause he thinks I’m just refusing to pay my bills. That being said, the people I’ve talked to on the phone were polite and helpful. I think the problem is the actual set up of the company, not the individual employees. Makes sense why this place only has 2.1 stars. I’ve probably spent 12 hours at this point just trying to give them my money lol

Absolutely horrible and I’m not one to post any reviews. Called in about a gas leak at 7:15pm at the gas meter itself. Customer service said it will be up to 45 minutes to an hour it is now 3 hours and no one has showed up yet. Called in 2 additional times one being 1.5 hours ago and they said tech was wrapping up a call and would be there shortly. 1.5 hours isn’t shortly. I would expect better customer service for customers when it comes to gas leaks especially. You can smell the gas 15 feet from the meter and I let them know how bad it was.

Worst service ever! They provide a local number but when you call it, no one answers. They changed out my meter yesterday, a little notice would have been nice. When I went to turn on the stove last night no gas. I looked around and saw a note on my front door, which no one uses. Says they will be out within 2 hrs to turn it back on. I called 4x as their automated phone service is one of the worst!! I finally got through to someone last night who was shocked they would put in a note they would be in within 2 hrs. They said someone would be there by 11pm, no thanks not having some weirdo coming into my house at 11pm. I called back today to reschedule them coming out and got so much push back from the black man who answered, I want to cancel my service. He didn't listen to what I said, I asked me the same questions over and over. What a pain. If you just would have given some notice someone would have been here. You get ZERO stars if that was an option. Will anyone respond? Does anyone read these? Terrible customer service!!!!!

Absolutely the most pathetic irresponsible lazy service in the United States. When you are a MONOPOLY you do what you want and charge what you want.

Id give it a zero star if i could lived in a house with their service for 2 years it was 60 dallors first year then jump next year to 115 this last year moved out and closed services and payed final bill. Randomly the charge account $185 call them and they said o we raised the price we sent you the email. We notified them the 24th we closing account the 26th the send email saying they raising the price. So not only did we pay 115 for final bill they charged our acount for another 185 and took 300 out of account.Not once before did they ever tell use they where going to change the amount we would pay from the 60 they will not tell you they are changing prices nor will they fix the issue when you call them about randomly pulling money out of account with no permission have prof of final bill being payed ans prof they took more money out. Very scummy

If u have a gas leak and Nicor comes out and locks ur meter out till it gets fixed,,,well it was fixed within the hour but it took Nicor 0ver 8 hours to come back on to turn the gas back on, in the Winter time.

They never allow you to be on a payment plan. I payed to be on a payment plan then 2weeks later I’m not able to have on. I wish we could have a new gas company out here.
