I first made a consultation appointment and provided photos of the hair style I wanted, and I was assured this could be done. When I left, my hair looked nothing like any of the photos. I was also overcharged. I sent a letter explaining the overcharge and asked for a refund. Not only did I not get a refund, they never even acknowledged by letter. Fortunately I have since found a stylist that listens to me and gives me the hair style I want.Service: Hairstyling

Simply recommending this place is an understatement. For years I had female hair stylists wreck my hair on even the most basic cuts.

I chose this salon because it is the only Aveda salon in Bloomington-Normal, but it was not for me. The stylist only asked me how much I wanted to take off for my haircut, not how I wanted it cut, and proceeded to just blunt cut my hair which looks awful. The color seemed okay, or so I thought, and the blow out was nice. However when I was driving home I noticed the back of my neck felt wet and discovered it was still covered in hair color, requiring me to shower and wash it out (along with the blow out) as soon as I got home. So gross. Plus I was never quoted a price above the base but charged much more. That would be fine but it's inappropriate not to let me know before the service. Just...not a good salon experience. Very sad that there is nowhere else to get Aveda color in town.

I went to an interview here and was told I that I would be gotten ahold of after the owners wife got back from her month vacation. I waited for this position I was told I would get. After a month no one got ahold of me so I tried calling multiple times only to get no response. If you have changed your mind it would have been nice to know so I could look for other employment. I would not recommend my friends to try to work here and if they can't even keep their word or at least have the courtesy to let me know things have changed, maybe they aren't so well at customer service either.

My wife has been going to Robert since our wedding day. I don't think she would even think of going anywhere else.

Customers are loyal for a reason. Robert's cuts and highlights are always spot on! I've strayed and gone to other studios on a whim but always come back! He never leaves me with brassy spots or wonky cuts, just perfect every time. Aveda products make everything smell gorgeous!

It has been three and a half years since my last visit to this salon. And I am just now working up the coherence to write this review (and has taken about that long to undo the damage this place did to my hair). I told my stylist that I wanted to "keep the length the same but trim up the existing layers." Instead, during my cut, I suddenly feel a big chunk of hair drop from my head and onto the floor. My stylist literally chopped off about seven inches of hair (when I explicitly asked to keep the length the same). When I asked what was happening, the stylist remarked that my hair "looked shaggy" and that I'd like this cut much more. First off, "shaggy" is a cut type. It's called having texture in your hair. Second, the cut that I would supposedly like much more was what I've come to since know as the "Bloomington bob" (i.e. boring, nondescript Midwestern hair cut for women). I was horrified. I made the mistake of quietly paying for the cut and leaving to cry in my car. I simply never came back. But I figured it's time now that the damage is undone to tell my tale. These folks cannot cut long hair and do not understand how to blend layers ("it looks shaggy!"). Caveat emptor.
