Fort Defiance State Park is a tranquil and scenic destination that offers visitors a unique glimpse into the region's history and natural beauty. Situated at the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, the park boasts breathtaking views of the bridges and the powerful rivers. Although the park may not be as well-maintained as some, the staff ensures the grass is mowed, providing a peaceful and tidy atmosphere. The park's history is intriguing, as it was once a military outpost marking the boundary between the North and South. Today, the park's building, designed to resemble a riverboat pilot house, invites visitors to climb to the top and experience a sense of being on the bridge of an old stern paddle wheeler. Despite the occasional litter left behind, the park remains a tranquil and beautiful destination, offering visitors the opportunity to connect with nature and explore the fascinating geological and historical significance of the region. Whether seeking a quiet moment or a chance to make new memories, Fort Defiance State Park is a hidden gem worth discovering.

Neat place to visit. Confluence of the Missouri and Ohio Rivers which begins the great Mississippi. Historical location and nice viewing stand. Not much else to see, but worth a quick stop.
