Molly was extremely helpful and thorough with both the tour and move-in. The team was very kind and answered any questions. Easiest move I’ve made.

Can we get a straight bar attachment for cables in gym. Two more 45 pound plates for the bench rack. And possibly a smith machine in there as well?!?!

I moved in when it first opened back in August 2016 (moved out December 2016). For those of you who still live/work in the area, y’all would know me as that guy from Canada who reaped up all the prizes. Much love to my roommates from Suite #312!!!

My daughter is moving in to Storyboard next month and she is so excited! Since we first contacted Storyboard in April, everyone has been great to work with. Molly goes out of her way to answer questions and just give of her time, and Walker has been great too with answering all of our questions and giving us a tour. Celeste also works there and has been very helpful over the phone and in person. I’ve visited the leasing office several times and each time I leave I’m more impressed. My husband and I feel so good knowing she is living there because it is safe and the people that work there truly care about the residents. This is the place to stay for SIU students, without a doubt!

I truly enjoy living at StoryBoard. You meet a lot of residents that turn into good friends. The staff is very communicative and very very close to campus and accessible near everywhere else

Building is nice! It has tanning beds (stand-up and lay down), vending machines, and an ideal location where 710 Bookstore once stood!
For brevity's sake, I'll keep the rest of my review on the shorter side...
- From the jump, the number they provide for building security was disconnected. They also have a problem keeping guards for more than a few months.
- It's one of the newer housing facilities at only six years old.
- The property manager, Valerie Heins, has a very unpleasant demeanor towards both residents and staff, leading to low resident satisfaction and staff retention. She makes it almost impossible to get a complaint past her. Prepare to be redirected.
She even tried to hold me liable for property damage that occurred when I wasn’t home. I came home late to find my apartment seemingly broken into and covered in water. I had to take the initiative of asking around to find out it was management who came in to shut off my water due to a burst pipe. Storyboard at SIU then threatened to sue me for $6,000 worth of damage.
This is just one of many examples of resident dissatisfaction. The amenities work... sometimes. Affordable parking is half a mile away and uphill, so forget it if there's snow. In one week, multiple apartments flooded, and their solution was to place trash cans under the leaks for four days. When I requested my shaky washing machine be leveled, the guy took it apart, told me he didn't have the part, didn't know where to get it, and then vanished. I still don't know if he even worked there or was a ghost because I lived on the top floor.
Finally, Storyboard at SIU (formerly Evolve) once left flyers on cars at every other apartment complex in town as per Valerie Heins' instructions. Needless to say, this is illegal due to trespassing and soliciting. It's hard to get a feel for Valerie's qualifications, but she's giving off major criminal vibes, and not the good kind.

Evolve apartments is infested with roaches on the 5th floor. Despite calling maintenance over three times, the infestation persists after every visit. We requested accommodations, a refund, an early lease termination, or even just a room change, and they flat-out refused. This place is horrible to live in, and it’s outrageous how they force tenants to endure such appalling conditions. Avoid this place at all costs.

Of all the college apartments I have had, this place is by far the worst. If you see a ton of good reviews, they incentivize people to leave positive reviews with a rewards website. I wish I would have had this review prior to moving in:
The noise is unbearable, whether it be the church bells that ring every day for 5 minutes at 8 AM, the train passing by at all hours of the day, the paper thin walls, or the fact you can hear any car in the garage and garage door if you live on the second floor.
Beyond that, the rooms are so tiny they barely fit a full size bed, the washing machine sometimes leaves my clothes DRY because it never fills enough, and parking is atrocious. Garage parking is $100 a month and thats AFTER you get off the waiting list. Otherwise parking is extremely far away or metered.
The only redeeming qualities of this apartment are the close proximity to campus and many of the staff are very kind. I just wish they took any complaints seriously.
From many of my classmates or friends living by, they recommend The Pointe, The Reserve, or Storyboard.

It’s great just wish the space on our patio was utilized to the fullest. The patio has half of the space blocked off which would be really nice to have a dog area or more space for us to bring bags out or other outdoor games

AVOID IT! Their garage door never works and their furnitures are all old and they will not replace it. Do not spend your money here it is not worth it.There are huge ants (bugs) issues every week and the workers there are very unhelpful. They say there is nothing they can do so you’re completely screwed if you have complains and you’re on a lease. Good luck trying to get your deposit back.My car has been broken into and they said they saw nothing on the video cam. I’m 100% sure the cameras do not work.Their ATM machine is broken, their drink machine is broken.Their doors sometimes don’t open. Their elevator stops working if their is power outage.Mostly it’s not worth your money and they will try anything in the month of August to sell this place to naive students like me.You’ll spend more money fixing and replacing old furnitures.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! The management tries to work with everyone and does their best to fix problems asap. Prices are great. Great amenities to utilize. The maintenance crew is amazing! The CA's in the office are very sweet. Everywhere has problems but with problems this is the place I would want to be. Thank you evolve for 3 years!
