Nobody should wait 30+ minutes when there is only one person in front of you to get a new debt card. Hire more staff. I ended up just leaving without getting a new card. Take better care of your clients and respect their time!

Moved to Southern Illinois in December and have had zero issues with this bank until now. My fiance and I have been getting cashiers checks to have a paper trail on our rent payments for the last 5 months since December going through the drive thru at the Carbondale location. Never had any problems. Now today, in May 5 months later, all of the sudden it’s unheard of to get a cashiers check through the drive thru. We explained to the lady we have been getting them for the past 5 months this way and she told us our “story” is “not believable” and “untrue”. Okay, so we went inside to get the check and then they tell us there will be a $6 fee. We have NOT been charged this fee the whole 5 months we have been getting these cashiers checks at OUR bank, I have the statements to prove it. We were told that is “false” and they always charge a fee. I’m not sure if they had an update to their policy but if that is the case, we as customers of this bank have NOT been informed properly. If you are looking for a good bank in Southern Illinois, I would AVOID First Mid Bank and Trust in Carbondale.

This is my second review after this bank took over Blackhawk Bank. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Every interaction I have with them is really disappointing. Due to my location I have to do all my banking remotely. There were zero issues until they went from Blackhawk's system to FirstMid's system. Now I have to call in every month to get my ATM fees refunded. Now there is a 10 day hold on a check I deposited remotely. These are just 2 of the many reasons I will not be staying at this bank long term. Things never improve when a bank is bought out and this is no exception.

Bank emoloyees show lack of empathy and caring to customers who need assistance. Jolene cared only about money and not about the customers current situation. The lack of compassion should not be surprising when dealing with a financial institution, but I had higher expectations. Lesson learned.

They are courteous and quick to open an account. They have many branches in Carbondale, and they do not require many procedures to open an account for international students. I thank them very much.

Horrible service. If you call them. They will never ever pick up. I am have been on hold for over 30 minutes. This is horrible. I know there is at least 8 people who work in that bank and no one is hardly in the bank. Someone needs to lift a finger and pick the damn phone up!!!!!

I'm a disabled man that chose to use the main Carbondale branch due to the fact it is the nearest bank to my home. But now that I've gotten to know the staff, I wouldn't go anywhere else. They've helped me out of several binds with a smile and a willingness that I've never experienced in all my years. They also love my pup Josie and give her lots of treats. I can be having a bad day but I always feel better after visiting with Jessica and the rest of the crew. Great people! Go see for yourself. You will never want to go elsewhere. my ranking is 5 out of 5 stars. but I rank them at 10 stars.
