A wonderful car buying experience

I asked for a simple refrigerant recharge, they originally told me I needed to evacuate the whole system and start from scratch. I insisted on the recharge, they inspected the vehicle and agreed, probably just a simple recharge, but they don’t have time right then. Fair enough, I don’t mind coming back.I came back after being called, but brought my keys in the office with me. Clearly this was a mistake, as the technician burst in and snapped about needing the keys to be in the vehicle, which I immediately handed over. He then sped my vehicle down the lot and left the driver’s door wide open as a massive thunderstorm came in, then laughed at me for walking down to roll up my windows and close my door so that the rain didn’t damage the interior. The conversation that followed was:“Had to get the trailer in before it rains!”“Totally get it, I’ve got a mower in the rain myself.”“Yea, well, this is a $40,000 trailer I have to get out of the rain.”Once I pulled it into a shop, another technician started pulling and tugging on wires that have NOTHING to do with the AC system, with an audible “Wonder what that goes to…” (Clearly not the air conditioner, please stop pulling on things.) Thus, me with very little confidence that my vehicle would be treated with respect. (For the record, guy, it’s for a backup alarm since removed, you could’ve just asked ??♀️)When they saw my discomfort, they insisted that I spend the repair time in the office, trying at first to explain how uncomfortable it would be in the car as they tested the system, then insisting they had paperwork I needed to fill out, and finally saying they didn’t have the insurance for me to be in the shop at all. Conveniently, my car was also parked in the only bay I wouldn’t be able to see from the office. When I stated I would prefer to remain with the vehicle at this point, they refused to work on it, stating “you can come back another day then” and when I said I would prefer to remain near my vehicle on that day too, they refused any future work as well.I may have trusted them, had they not already shown complacency with the vehicle’s care. That, coupled with a refusal of transparency (but only after I demonstrated basic knowledge of vehicles) left me unable to justify leaving my car unattended in their “care.”

I took my vehicle there for an estimate on replacing my transmission. The owner was very helpful and gave me a great price. My vehicle was finished within three days, start to finish. I will be using Rob's for all my auto repair in the future. Fast, Friendly service. What a pleasure. Thanks Rob for everything you did to get my car back on the streets in a short amount of time.

Bad, turn and run the other way. (fyi he has changed the name to Rob's Auto Service Center) 1) When you ask for an estimate he will tear your car apart and if you don't accept his estimate he will hold your car hostage on till you pay him for tearing your car apart. 2) He will charge you for labor that he didn't do. And then try to lie about the number of hours he worked on the car. (He said he did 6 hours of work even though he only worked on the car for 3 hours) 3) His wife will come in and yell at the top of her lungs and swear at you and call you all kinds of names. 4) 100% BAD customer service. 5) When he gave me the bill and I told him it was too much, he said "I though you would say that" My guess this is a common occurrence for him. I could write more but I think you get the drift... find an honest and reputable auto mechanic. Good Luck, Mike
