Probably the best ribs I've ever had.

This place was recommended to me by a family member. Thank god they were able to remember the name of the place because it was delicious. Got a meat tray with two sides, and so did my partner. We had a feast. The chicken was cooked to perfection, crispy outside and a middle to that falls of the bone into to your mouth. Pork was good as well. A good selection of beers and friendly service makes this a worthwhile stop.

I had a burnt ends platter, which came with two sides and two BBQ sauces. For my sides, I ordered pit beans and potato casserole. Everything was good. The staff was friendly and answered all my questions satisfactory for my first time being there, which helped me in placing my order.I plan to return soon.

Nice atmosphere... Food was decent but dry. Brisket could have used more seasoning and burnt ends were NOT burnt ends. I asked what the difference between burnt ends and brisket when the server brought us our entrees and she said that the "burnt ends" had more fat. (Brisket and Burnt ends looked identical). Brisket was very dry and BOTH could have used more seasoning. The corn bread was like cardboard it was SO DRY. The elote (Mexican corn) was NOT on the cob (hence the word "elote" which means "cob") and was ice cold but in truth, it WAS good. Overall, edible but honestly, I probably won't eat there again. Oh, if you eat there, get the "platter" as the platter is literally a single serving. Was expecting enough to take home but it's literally 6 small strips of lightly seasoned brisket.

Had some amazing brisket, pit beans, and cornbread; all were among the best I've ever tried. I'll definitely be visiting this place again when I'm in town.

I once thought this was the best bbq in town. After today I'll never go back, nothing was the same. They were out of a lot of items on their menu. All the "bbq" sauces were very strange, we kept asking to try a different one hoping it would taste better, then tried mixing them all together to make something halfway appetising, no luck. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive but kept changing throughout the meal, no idea why. On several occasions, a waitress would suddenly YELL across the restaurant at the TOP of her lungs, very jarring and unpleasant. I got a really upset stomach after leaving, to top things off.

We've eaten at many of the "top-rated" BBQ restaurants across the country. I would put Black Dog up near the top in Illinois. The atmosphere is great, and, weather permitting, you can dine on their enclosed patio. They have some delightful cocktails at reasonable prices.Dietary restrictions: There are many gluten-free options.

Currently sitting in the enclosed patio with our black dog (mostly - mums on* the white patch) and while the food is great the service is so great that I’m mid meal leaving a review. The first stop of any trip always leaves the biggest impression for us.Christina has been exceptionally friendly as we talk her ear off (probably too much) and she even compiled a list of things we can do in the area with our dog or once we can leave him at our BNB. Great recommendations on drinks and the menu, and a lovely person to chat with.Natty B. also stopped to check on us and I let them offer my dog one of my fries to try to get my dog to be less skittish (very overstimulated after a long ride). Was not offended when my dog stole the fry and ran.Chicken salad sandwich was flavorful, the corn bread is savory, and my partner liked his brisket and burnt ends.Get the spicy-peach bbq sauce - not too spicy, not too sweet.Aside from that the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable.Next time we’re out this way we’ll definitely stop by.$55 for 4 drinks and 2 meals

The facility is perfect for the tenant, open and rustic. The service was good. I loved the brisket chili, the pit beans were tasty, the pulled pork was ok and I didn’t care much for the catfish which was overcooked and texturally unappealing. The Martini was mixed as requested and there was no offering for dessert ?♂️overall a decent meal at a fair price.
