Too busy for their own good. Here it is early September and this lady says their next available appointment was in March. Really?

Dr Kessler is hands down the best and most thorough eye doctor in town. His staff is always kind and knowledgeable. However, the general experience is very uncomfortable.I believe it is their prerogative to maintain their Covid reaction standards. The issue is with their idea of the “Fit Experience”. I feel like I have to come to my appointment with an excuse to leave or feel pushed into an obligation to purchase expensive frames. My entire family (me, ex husband, 3 kids) have seen Dr Kessler for over 17 years and in that time we have paid repeatedly over $500 for frames for a single person that were “the most affordable option with our insurance”.Now I order my frames/lenses for $80 a pair on Zeeloo. All that said, is no other eye doctor in town I would trust with my family’s vision care

Was not really a fan of this place. Sort of felt like a bait and switch after saying they were full service provider for my insurance they told me after getting the exam that none of their glasses would be covered by insurance. Then they proceed to sell you on $1000+ glasses that are supposedly vastly better because of being digitally measured, and having a bunch of coatings that never stop scratches like they promise. Staff was stuck up and acted like they worked in West Hollywood for a celebrity doctor when really it’s just central Illinois and they need to relax. I watched the lady at the counter be rude to a patient picking up glasses while I was waiting and I should have just walked out at that point. Not to mention the onboarding procedure and information required was excessive. Overall, I got glasses that worked but would have been just fine with my old ones. Don’t think I’ll be returning. I personally think the only reason this place has high reviews is a bunch of family and friends or fake accounts because a lot of the people reviewing five stars have one review or a handful at best.

This is the best place in town! Worth it. Everyone very nice and professional. Loved the glass fitting with Galaza. She is the best.

This place is a scam. I spent at least $900 on my glasses. They convinced me that my eyes needed it. My new optometrist said that something to the effect of: yes, and there's always a better insurance plan with more benefits, but to cover the premiums, you need to be a billionaire in order to not go bankrupt. And not plenty of people are healthy, have great eye sight and health, but are not bankrupt. Also, my glasses broke and I got the same frames for 33% less.Dude's got an instagram. Dude's like Dr. Christian Troy but for basic needs with people who may be on limited budget, trying to sell optical perfection to people who are trying to see clearly.I should say that they gave me cheaper options but the salesperson was pretty aggressive, repeatedly emphasizing the necessity of certain features that were primarily (or exclusively?) associated with more expensive glasses to someone who clearly did not know enough about the structure, function, or health of the eye. From their perspective, it was like selling CDOs to babies in 2006.

First, I went along with my husband when we was having an eye exam to look at frames. I was told I couldn't come in without an appointment. So I called to set up an appointment for an eye exam. They took down information, then asked for my social security number. I told them I wasn't comfortable giving it out over the phone but I'd be happy to share it in person. Mind you they already had my insurance information, etc. They said I had to give it then, there were no other options. The end. So I went somewhere else for my eye exam. After I had my prescription, I called them to set up an appointment to look at frames. I thought this was a straightforward request, but she took my name and then said someone would send me an email in the next few days. A few days later, I received an email from them saying that they had record of me coming in and looking at frames in 2011 and 2016 without making a purchase. They said that if I want to purchase eyewear from them in the future, I should know that the average cost was about $2000. I was given other information about insurance, taxes, etc. but STILL no information was given about how to make an appointment to look at frames! I responded to the email expressing my frustration and that I found their customer service offensive but no one responded.Even if you have the good fortune of making it through the holy gates of Kessler's office, you should know that if you want to look at frames (even with one of their elusive appointments) you will not be free to look around the store to browse frames. They will decide which ones they think you will like and bring them to you. So, zero stars. I'm not going back. Specs Around Town in Bloomington is soooooooooo much better and the people are kind and friendly and respectful.

Dr. Kessler and his team have taken care of my eyes since 2017. He is extraordinarily available and careful and smart. I can't imagine a better person to manage my somewhat complicated eye issues!

So, I visited this place a few months ago just for a checkup. The appointment went fine. Everyone was very nice and professional. The problem actually came after the appointment. I asked the doctor for a copy of my prescription, because I wanted to buy some eye glasses online. This is most affordable for me. I asked him about my pupil distance, because you need that to get online eyewear. He told me it was 54, apparently very small. I took his word for it and ordered some glasses, however all the pairs I tried, I found them hard to see out of. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I am working with an online company that accepts my insurance, and they tell me that measurement cannot be right, and can I use this app to measure mine? I do it, and the number I get is 61.5. I got new glasses with that measurement and I can see fine. Either, someone in their office did a bad job measuring me, OR, he lied. Either way, I am suspicious. That seems like such an easy thing to not screw up. I do not think I will be coming back here as a result.

I recently made a purchase in lenscrafter, but when I picked up the glasses today I noticed that the lens was way thicker than I expected.

I did my eye exams at both Costco and Kessler’s. The eye exam actually costs less here than at Costco (if with insurance) and is more accurate (don’t expect Costco would save you money on the exams). The doctor at Costco told me to wear glasses 24/7 and gave me heavier prescriptions while Dr. Kessler said wearing glasses is optional, which is true in my case. Moreover, Dr. Kessler would show me the wavefront images and explain why he would give me such a prescription rather than simply printing the results like other places. The prescription glasses also come with one year warranty for free adjustments. Overall, Dr. Kessler and his staff are very patient and professional, lenses are very well made with superb quality and excellent coatings, and I highly recommend this place.
