About Coles County Fair
Coles County Fair is a cherished local event, celebrated as the longest-running county fair in Illinois. Visitors enjoy a variety of attractions, including exciting rides, games, and food options. Popular treats like funnel cakes, bison burgers, corn dogs, and lemon shake-ups are highlights, although some attendees have noted a desire for more diverse food truck options. The fair features harness racing, with a beautiful track that draws many fans eager to see the gorgeous horses compete. Evening events, such as bull riding and tractor pulls, add to the excitement. Families appreciate the smaller community vibe, shorter walks, and quick service compared to larger fairs, making it easier for parents with young children. The fair also showcases local talents in the art and award hall, and offers clean restrooms. While some visitors mention the rising ticket prices and fewer rides than in previous years, the overall experience remains enjoyable. The fair serves as a lovely backdrop for special moments, like proposals, and brings together generations of families who fondly recall their own childhood visits. Overall, Coles County Fair is a delightful place for community fun and entertainment.

Rodeo was awesome! Ate at Fry Guys also got a snow cone and funnel cake to share. Was surprised not to see any elephant ears.

Went for the harness races. Charleston has a great track. Loved every minute. Highly recommend.
If you've never been to a harness race, definitely go and check it out. Gorgeous horses and exciting races. If not at Charleston, there's racing coming up at Greenup, Marshall, and several other towns in August.
