It was such a great experience getting my car serviced at this location. Jimmy provided excellent customer service and valuable knowledge from the team troubleshooting the issues with my vehicle. This business will be my "go to" from now on when experiencing car trouble! Keep up the good work!

This review is for the website/appointment setting process. I called years ago to get an appointment but could not get an answer so I've never used them. That is still true today. I called at 10 am to make an appointment but got sent to a voicemail that seemed to just state the address of the place. So it being 2025 and this being a national chain place, I checked online to see if they had a website. To my luck they have not only a working site but a way to schedule an appointment online. I scheduled for same day at 1:30 only to walk in and be told they don't even do online appointments or have access to it. He claimed he got no calls from me. The website sucks, the numbers listed for this place suck. But if you can get in touch with them, you may be satisfied

Firsts things first Jimmy is top TIER.. As a female going to any mechanic is somewhat intimidating but not AAMCO.. I came in confident and left with so much joy.. He was informative and very professional.. Explained my car issues down to the T.. I would recommend him and this location to anyone in need of transmission or engine work.. In December 2022 I took my 2010 Chevy Equinox (with 100k miles) to AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care located at 12307 South Halsted Street due to the vehicle not moving in reverse, engine light on and loss of power when accelerating.
I spoke with Julio prior to dropping off the vehicle for repair, and he kept me updated throughout the repair process.
Julio informed I’d need transmission rebuild. He thoroughly explained...
- The overall issues
- Repair time frame ( 3 weeks)
- Standard warranty and extended warranty details
-Repair cost
The rebuilt transmission was completed in 2 weeks, and the vehicle drove perfectly.
In December 2023, I took the vehicle back for an annual check (requirement to maintain extended warranty coverage). The transmission was working as expected; there were no issues.
I’d also like to mention, while the shop performed the annual inspection of the transmission, they checked the vehicle, overall, and discovered an issue with the brakes being locked on one of the wheels.
Once again, Julio explained the issue (clogged brake hose), repair needed, warranty, and repair cost details.
My vehicle was again repaired correctly and timely.
As of today, June 23, 2024, the vehicle is still driving great!
