The worst car rental experience!
I rented a car from Avis from May 22 to July 8, 2025. I returned the car on time at 7:40 AM, right when the office opened, following their instructions — I left it in the parking lot and took photos. The staff assured me that everything was fine and that there would be no additional charges.
However, over time, Avis keeps charging me — now there are constant small payments for the rental and E-Toll fees, even though the car has long been returned! I opened several tickets in their system, but nothing has been resolved, and the responses are just templates.
I had to block my card to stop these endless charges. It feels like Avis doesn’t manage their payments at all and just keeps taking money from customers.
Be careful! If you rent from Avis, keep all photos and documents and be prepared for a long fight to get your money back. I will never use their services again.

Jose is amazing at the counter at North Ave location. Always top notch service, super quick and solves any problems. Puts customer first.

I had a terrible experience with different company two times this company charge me for rental car for extra days. The first time I let it go because it was for a small amount and it was signing me down a rabbit hole to try to get my money back. The second time it was 2,300 and now I'm sending them to small claims court this is a terrible company which the workers does not do their job and check and see if the cars are in the parking lot.

Where do I even start? Just awful experience renting here. Rented a car here for two days, they gave me NO after hours drop off instructions. Customer service told me the next business day local rep would come in and close the contract if keys are in car. Office closed on the weekend so I parked the car in the assigned Avis parking spots with the keys in the car. Took 17 phone calls to reach the local office after which they closed the contract 5 days since the time I had dropped off the car. I got charged 4 additional days of rent due to their negligence. Worst rental experience ever. Oh and the cars extremely dirty. I even paid for a premium upgrade and found the exterior and interior including console and other leather seats with stains and dirt. Never renting from this location again.

We routinely rent from this location for one main reason, the staff! I recently left a valuable item in my rental and realized it over a week later. Juan made sure to find the item and called me back to schedule a time best for me to pick it up!

BEWARE!!!!!! a month and a half after renting from here they sent me an invoice for a cleaning fee and tried to charge my card. I should have known when I went to pick up my car, They didn’t even have the vehicle I rented online, I chose a gas vehicle. (they only had EV) so they had to give me a large red pick up truck and they up-charged me $20 more per day. Forward to a month and a half later, they send me an invoice for $450.00 cleaning fee with no description of what the cleaning fee is for! I will be disputing. Please stay away from this place.

I rented a car to drive for Uber they were charging me $394 a week 2 weeks ago they sent me a receipt for $394 but yet they charged me $406 they still owe me $11.43 I took my car back on Saturday morning and Nestor told me that I would not be getting reimbursed for the 2 days that I didn't drive my car because Uber was closed I don't understand what Uber has to do with me bringing my car back early and getting screwed out of 2 days I never got a receipt he said I would get one on Monday I still haven't gotten a receipt and I still haven't gotten refunded my $11.43 bet you overcharged me I would never recommend this place to anybody you guys are thieves and if I don't get my money back I will report you

We rented a car to drive one way from Columbus to Lincoln Park, Chicago. We got to the Avis in LP just before it closed but they couldn’t tell us where to park. They said they, “couldn't answer that question.” Then we were forced to return it to another location. They charged us an extra day even though we retuned it on time. It was their problem that they couldn’t communicate where to park it. Never using Avis again.

Booked a car weeks in advance, and they didn't have one when we showed up. Apparently there were nearby Avis facilities that did have cars and were open, but staff here seemed extremely uninterested in helping us get a replacement car booked.
Try being less shitty to people or you're going to lose a lot of business.

Passenger seat back was stuck forward, unusable, should have been taken out of service. Well overpriced compared to other rental agencies in area.

Joe helped me and did an amazing job! I remember being at Hertz for 7 hours. This was my first time at Avis, and Joe's customer service skills were fast, clear and respectful. Give him a raise or a kudos at least! Also the car is beautiful! Thank you Avis!

A phenomenal experience I had renting from this establishment. Jorge, the representative, is a professional at what he does. When I first got my car, he was busy with a room full of clients and he managed to take care of everyone in an amazing manner by himself. During my rental, I had to call the office for some information and Jorge once again was there with a great attitude and assistance. Returning the car was smooth as the whole experience. I will recommend this location to all my people as Jorge set the expectations for what a rental place should look like.
