I would strongly suggest that all should avoid doing business with BMO Harris bank. They seem to enjoy making it difficult for regular folks to pay their debts and move onto other business relationships. All I wanted to do was pay off my home equity loan, and now on the 4th payoff amount after their b.s. charges, I’m at wit’s end. Awful, stressful, and unethical. I’ve rarely been so shocked and displeased by a business in any category as I am by BMO Harris, 0/10 would not recommend.

Worst bank in the country. The app and website don't allow you to stop or modify auto payments. You can try calling, but good luck because you'll spend 5 minutes trying to press the correct menu numbers to speak to somebody and then the line just goes silent until you hang up 20min later. This is not a one time occurrence. It happened to me over and over again. Months ago I finally spoke to a person who informed me I had to print a paper and fax it to them to stop the auto payments, which I did, but as an extra step I put a stop payment on their draft and that was the best $10 I ever spent because don't you know BMO still tries to draft my account every month even though they have the account information for the correct account to draft. They still try mine first, then the payment reverses and then they draft the other account.

By far, the best banking institution. Solid customer service and still practicing a "hands on" approach for banking needs. Anyone who suggests otherwise is most likely still struggling to balance their checkbook and fighting overdraft fees??

Another bank whose telephone customer service is outsourced to a call center in a foreign country with people that are not empowered to do anything but read from a script and they don’t even pretend to try to understand what you are calling about.

This bank branch allowed someone to fraudulent open a checking and savings account in my name and with my SSN. Their fraud department said, yes, it's fraud. Their credit dispute department says oh no it was opened properly. It has been a nightmare to get this resolved. I wouldn't trust them to deal with you fairly. First thing their phone system asks for if you don't have your account number...your full SSN. Not even just the last 4. Who asks for that over the phone anymore?! I would not trust them to keep your money or your information safe.

I have only used the Customer Service line twice, and both times were unsatisfactory experiences. The people on the BMO end had thick accents, both times I called. I could not easily understand their questions and had to ask them to repeat the question each time. Between each question, there was up to a 90 second pause in which your representative said "I'm just checking my resources, okay?). Unless you are at NORAD or NASA, there is sets of computers in the world that have so much information to get through as your computers seem to be. Because I had difficulty understanding your representatives, my husband once tried to "translate" for me and I got "If someone is coaching you, I will have to hang up." I was given test questions to prove who I was and also sent a text that I didn't receive until about 10 minutes into the conversation. Your representatives decided I must be a criminal mastermind and told me to go to a local branch. Thanks for wasting about 20 minutes of my time, each time I called.
