A wonderful downtown Chicago grocery store with an amazing selection, and a very friendly staff. We highly recommend it!

Today at 1 pm cashier refused to sell me a bottle of wine without a passport. I'm a 37 year old man who looks like a 37 year old, also I do not carry my passport just to go to the grocery store.

This establishment does not even deserve one star. I stopped in to grab some last minute items and the manager stared me down as if I was there to rob the place. I was in an aisle and I guess he didn’t see me because I’m short and I overheard him say “keep an eye on that one” I can only assume because I’m black. A young gay couple walked in as I was leaving and the manager literally rolled his eyes. If you like your groceries with a dash of hate, racism, and homophobia, this is the stop for you.

The manager/owner of this place is extremely rude and disrespectful! I witnessed him yelling at a distributor for talking to a customer waiting in line for less than 2 minutes. He threatened to kick him out of the store if he didn’t get back to work or if he spoke to the owner again, which just shows how entitled he is. This person doesn’t even work for him, and wasn’t disturbing anyone who was at work. Never shopping here again after witnessing this is how the owner treats people.

It's fine in a pinch. However, their prices for most products are twice that of other retailers. The produce is generally useless, most likely due to sitting out for so long, unpurchesed, think bruised, limp, moldy, scant, etc.The best part is their deli! They carry Boarshead products, which are DELICIOUS and TOP QUALITY!

A good, clean, upscalish, full service grocery store in a densely populated urban zone with friendly hours 7am-midnight.

Dear Bockwinkel's - your nasty, miserable employees are literally scaring people away from returning to your stores.

They overcharge you and don't hand you your receipt unless you specifically ask for it. When you catch the overcharge later that day, they expect you to turn back around immediately and present the receipt for a camera check on the very same day.

Convenient shop with a bit higher prices

Would not refer anyone to ever work at this place. They are telling employees that if a customers card declines, the total of that bill gets taken out of their pay! They also won’t allow you to have your cellphone on you at any time as if emergencies don’t ever come up?! Last but certainly not least, you work a 8 hour day and only get a 10 minute break and 3 bathroom breaks. This place can go to the hottest corner in HELL!!!!

Convenient grocery market that I only pop into if I need something last minute and don't feel like walking over to Whole Foods. Clean store with a lot of the basics. Not sure how they stay in business though because the prices on many things, especially produce are absurd. Because the prices are so high, I think it keep's customers away, so bins of produce are over ripe and moldy. Maybe if they didn't charge $4 for an avocado, they would actually sell them. Never see more than 3-4 other people shopping. Staff is not the friendliest. Overall, Whole Foods has better prices, quality, and selection.
