Really don't recommend Budget in general but this was my drop off location from a one way cross country. Most other rental companies will not allow you to return a vehicle outside of hours of operation, yet for some reason budget processed it directly on theirs website, not third party, and let it run. My drop off was 12:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday and they close at noon on the dot. They DO NOT have an after hours drop off so I called Budgets customer service line and they advised me to leave the truck in their parking lot overnight and return the following morning with the keys, which I did. When returning the keys I went over this with the manager as well as some issues with the truck, one that I do need deem good enough to be part of Budget's active rental fleet, and he seemed very relaxed and understanding, yet still charged me for another full day AFTER I had explained the situation and the truck had been sitting in their lot overnight and into that same day. Luckily I suspected some BS so I locked my credit card and the charge didn't process but I had to contact the customer service line yet again to get that taken care of. I'm giving it a 2 star instead of a 1 because the staff were very helpful when it came to dealing with the over the phone incompetence of Budget customer service but honestly just go with uHaul or Hertz. Don't waste your time with Budget.

My daughter prepaid for a rental online. She had to be in Kentucky next day for a state issued test she prepaid for in advance.They told her that even tho she already paid she would have to swipe a major credit card for an additional deposit AND have her credit ran!!CANCELED.Budget needs to make this information explicitly available prior to completing a prepaid reservation!!!WILL.NEVER.RENT.FROM.BUDGET.!!

The guy at the front desk was super nice and professional. He helped us get our car without any problems, and even allowed us to extend it a couple more days with a minimal charge. He gave A++ customer service. Super respectful and helpful.

Vehicle was dirty when I received it. Windows were dirty inside and out. I found food underneath the front passenger seat. The Oak Lawn, IL. location needs to do better.

Beware for those who drop off rentals at the Budget located at 8181 S Cicero near Chicago, IL; be sure to get a receipt in hand. If not, review your payment statement to ensure you are not charged incorrectly. I returned a vehicle and was charged for an additional hour. When I disputed the charge, they verified that I, indeed, was not late returning the rental. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR BILL.

We took out 2 dogs on vacation with us. Prior to returning we cleaned and vacuumed. Now since they located “some” dog hair they want to charge me $250?!?! You are out of your mind! This company is obviously not animal friendly and I will surely never use them again. If you have pets, or don’t want to be ripped offI suggest using another company as well. Budget lost a customer for life! Makes me sick and has now ruined what was a nice vacation.

I made an online reservation 2 months ago for a Toyota Rav 4 and upon arriving I received an upgrade for no extra charge! Total time in and out of Budget Rental on 81st and Cicero was 5 minutes! Returning the vehicle was just as convenient! Definitely Recommended!

Went to pick up cargo van my daughter had reserved last week. Clerk told us “corporate had called the day after she had reserved the van to say they wouldn’t have one”. She has no missed calls on that day and no voicemail message. Why wouldn’t Budget have followed up with an email? Or call again to try to find another van to rent? She needs to move today! He found a truck instead (which are worse to drive) at another location 10 miles away. Said price would be same as van. Should get a discount for inconvenience. I don’t recommend Budget.

Paid for a cargo van rental. Came ALL THE WAY FROM SCHAUMBURG for our cargo van rental. Then found out, "We don't have anything available and we let over-bookings happen all the time."

I liked the car rental rate budget offered through their app. What I didn't like that I received the car in a dirty condition. But everything else was good.

Prepaid for a rental and they claim their system didnt register it and charged our card AGAIN same exact amount upon pickup. We called and they said "oh just wait 2/3 days and you'll get a refund"This happened Friday morning and still no refund is present in the account. Was still expected to fill up the tank even though their mistake left us without OUR money We had saved specifically for this vacation (including our gas money). We asked about a discount on the next rental to accommodate for ruining our Christmas weekend and they apparently said "we will see".I'll take that as a no. We have been reliable customers but will be taking our business ELSEWHERE moving forward.

When Thrifty had such bad service of getting a car I walked over to budget made an online reservation, and before the reservation even fully came through they were taken care of me getting me a car.

On 8-29-22 I reserved a rental car over the phone with David, the corporate office representative, and I told him that I would be using my Debit card. The next day, I took a Lyft ride along with the supporting documents according to the company requirements per David to pick up the car. However, after the local representative realized that I was using my Debit card to pay for the car, he asked me several times (with a smirk on his face) "did they.tell you the most important thing that needs to happen before you can pick up the car?" I told the representative (who also said that he and his co-worker were the acting managers in the absence of the office manager) that I had brought all of the information that the phone Rep David told me to bring. Suddenly, he said "we run credit checks with debit cards and today you don’t qualify." I was stunned by his response because I didn't give him permission to run a credit check nor was I told that this was part of the process. Furthermore the Lyft ride was gone to pick up another fare. This local Rep insisted that the Corporate office gives out erroneous information that his office is not aware of nor do they comply with the information that David gave to me over the phone. Finally, I asked him if they could give me a courtesy ride home and he said no because it was against the company insurance policy. Therefore, I insisted on getting the name and number for the local office manager and I was told that I had to send an email that would still come through their office. Nevertheless, after a long day of work I had to call Lyft for a ride home and I was out of money for two rides and no rental car with Budget. Technically this rating should be a zero.
