Edit: I appreciate the response from CheckChangers and understand where they are coming from. I forgot to include that when I was going back and forth with the woman who was helping me, she was 100% sure that I would be charged the same amount at the city office. That is what bothered me the most. She should have just said this is what our system shows but you can go try the city office instead of confidently saying I’m going to get the same response from the city office when that ended up being untrue.
Original: Went in for city sticker during Chicago’s amnesty month which is waiving back charges and fees. CheckChangers employee rang me up to a total that included back charges and fees. I told her about the amnesty month which she said she was aware of but told me it didn’t apply to me. I left and went to a Department of Finance office and they did not charge me the back charges or late fee. Unclear if CheckChangers employee was uninformed or if she was just trying to get something extra out of me.

Be careful with the cash you receive after cashing your check here, I received a fake $20.00. I cashed my check at 4:57pm on Thursday 01/25/24, I didn’t realize I had received any fake cash until today 01/26/24 when I tried to buy lunch at L’patron on Fullerton. The cashier marked it up and you can see from the picture it marked as fake, she said I can call the police on you and refused to return the bill to me. I went back to the currency exchange and spoke with the same cashier that assisted me with cashing the check. She stated that it couldn’t possibly be from their store as she says she knows the difference between a real bill and fake bill based on how it feels. But they do not mark their bills. The cashier and her coworker called their manager Matt, he asked how many checks I had cashed at their location which have been a total of 3 checks. Matt then said there was nothing they could do. At least it was only $20 and not my entire paycheck that was given to me in fake currency. Needless to say I no longer feel comfortable returning here for future transactions. Please be careful and double check your money before you leave the window because once you walk away they will not be accountable.

I like to give out a warm...❤ and appreciative( thank you.) To a cashier at your facility.. her name is.......'.Modesta' ( I got a money order from her, and it was lost by the mailman...( what occurred after that was a tumbling experience..... and after a month when I found my receipt....( this lady...'.Modesta'... guided me, and gave me information.... and how to get my money back.....( the bottom line is....☂️. Thank you very much for your professionalism. ?

Went there today with my daughter who has a disability to cash a check from CPS she called her manager snorkeled her nose up threw check back said go to the bank are u serious it wasn't a lot of mony went to another currancy they gave no problem took my tax check last time told me she did not have time come latter are u f serious

Who runs this place? Owner must not check on the Employees attitude and customer service. I don't see a Number for complaints. I see the employees have the choice of giving the service or not just because they can. and I don't think a business should be run like that.

They are the worse. They took people out of turn. The person behind the counter didn't even look at my ID. Stamped my check then wrote void on it. They should get no stars. I'm calling the owners.

I love what they have done with the updates to their space. I called on Wednesday night looking for someone to notarize a document for me, unfortunately everywhere I called was unavailable and rude about it. I called this location and the person on the phone was kind and let me know I could come in as early as 7am the next day. I ended up doing just that and a very nice woman named Leslie was able to help me quickly and efficiently, great customer service, thanks!
