Ive spent countless hours speaking to this Coinstar machine, and it literally never even responds or makes eye contact. Gift cards are cool tho.

END OF THE WORLD This is all my fault. I was so excited when they built this Dominick store. It was my store and I shopped here often. In fact, I've known and shopped at Dominick's since the day I was born but that era ends on Dec 28, 2013. But I'm not totally to blame. We can blame Bob Mariano and his one goal. Revenge! Ever since they fired him as CEO he wanted to destroy Dominick's and now he has succeeded. What will his next conquest be? This is like a movie sequel. Who will be the bad guy in Part 2. If I was Jewel, I would be worried. I highly recommend you send some flowers to Bob for the holidays. I'm at fault too because in the last 5 years I've bought a buttermilk and a sour cream container here. Those were all recipe emergencies. I started cheating on Dominick and I fell in love with Trader Joe and his no high fructose approach. So I made the switch for health reasons. And now Dominick is just about dead. I will say one last thing, I'm glad I'm still alive. There's no reason to come here because the aisles look like a post apocalypse movie minus the wall of knocked over still fresh Twinkees. It has been picked clean. Alcohol was 30% off and buy 6 and get another 10% but I wasn't that lucky. General food was 50% off but the aisles are a ghost town. Now there's plenty of fresh chicken, fresh beef, fruits and veggies. Those are still full price. I'm not sure why. At this point they just need to stop ordering and start dumping them. So goodbye Dominick...I assume you're sleeping with the fishes because the fish department is totally dark right now.

I've heard a rumor that the Dominick's in Chicago are all closing...but I really hope that's not true! I love this Dominick's! It's so much better than the Jewel down the street -- size, layout, selection, parking, etc...Except the self-checkout. The lines always suck here..but I blame the customers more than the store. If you have a full cart of groceries, take your hiney to the normal checkout lanes! Some of my fave parts of this store -- so many options of yogurt, peanut butter, and beer. Great combination, I know! The cooked rotisserie chickens are good and reasonable priced. I also have awesome luck in the meat department finding discounted meats that are usually dated that day, but if you freeze them when you get home they're good to go! Last visit I found 1lb packages of organic grass fed 85% lean ground beef for $2.99! That's an awwwesome deal, folks! The crowd can be a little sketchy at times (but Jewel is worse for sure -- I've been the victim of a pickpocket there and seen an attempted one) but I've also had experiences with really friendly people, too -- including the staff! They always ask if I need help finding anything, and taking stuff out to my car. Keep up the good work, Dominick's. And don't let that shiny brand new Target scare you away!

Dominick's is just down the street from us which is convenient, but you do have to drive past a 'bad' area to get there. This location sells pretty much everything you would want from a super market, and although some of the prices are a little higher than I expected, it's not too bad.

This grocery store has just about everything you'd be looking for in a market but the inside is kinda dingy. I'm not sure how long they have been operating here but you get the sense it's been a long time. Still though it is convenient and fairly easy to get to from the inner loop although, the Whole Foods downtown is much cleaner/nicer on the inside. A couple other unfortunate things I noticed about this particular store is that the vegetables are sort of hit or miss. Sometimes everything is fresh as can be and other times everything is a little "off". Not "rotting on the shelves off" but just doesn't appear fresh or appetizing. The staff are obviously nice people but you get the feeling they are really just punching a clock. I hate to say it but it actually kinda makes me feel down buying groceries here. Personally, I'll still use this location since it is fairly inexpensive and convenient but if something nicer opened up right next door I'd probably have to bid them fair well.

I like this Dominicks. Although I have to say that I really enjoy going to Mariano's instead of here now...but occasionally I still go here. I like their rewards program. For every $100 you spend, you can get 0.10 off gas at select Mobil stations...not to shabby considering the high prices of gas lately. You can find some deals here, but you have to watch the prices. The deli is ok. I prefer Mariano's deli times 100. Also, the produce is ok. Sometimes good, sometimes gross...most of the time overpriced.

What has happened to my Dominick's on Division St./Chicago? We started to shop at Dominick's because there was a good selection, reasonable prices, a clean store and great produce. Now I find the store not so clean and the produce is inferior. Just last week I bought ginger that was brown inside and it only came in small, knobby pieces. Radishes were soft in the middle and garlic had only tiny cloves. Worst was the olive bar. When I got to it I realized that most categories were empty. But then I spotted the manager and pointed it out to him. He said he would correct immediately so I finished my shopping and returned 30 minutes later and nothing had changed. I am so sad to have to find a new store.

Who gives a grocery store 5 stars, right? Well, let me clarify, the 5 stars is really for the sushi chefs. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a fan of this Dominick's. The employees are always friendly, helpful and will go out of their way to make sure you find what you're looking for. This is especially true of the produce folks. They rock. But the icing on the cake is the sushi counter. I have to say I'm a little (ok, a lot) embarrassed that the guy and gal sushi chefs know me...and know what I always eat. I'm a little more embarrassed to admit that we've never been properly introduced. At this point, I might be a little more embarrassed still to ask them their names after they've taken such good care of me for so long. I often come in super early, as this Dominick's is on the way home from my morning workout. Even though they're not even set up yet, they'll make me my salmon and avocado with brown rice. And when I do come in at different times of day, they see me and offer to make it for me if it's not already made. They are both always smiling, friendly and truly a breath of fresh air. Not only are they great, their sushi is the best grocery store sushi I've ever had, hands down. I'd even go as far as saying that it rivals some of the restaurant sushi I've had, at half the price. I'm not the only fan, either. The guy driving me home from the airport and I got on the topic and he mentioned that they make him their spicy shrimp roll (or something like that) every time he comes in. We love these folks. They genuinely care about their customers and truly know the meaning of excellent customer service. I think you'll love them too. And while you're in trying the sushi, you can try out the rest of the store. They always have the brands I'm looking for, and with their online deals (and app) you can save a lot of money. Really, don't shop there without their online coupons. I can generally save about 40%. That's at least enough for a nice cocktail. Mmmm...

I think it's weird that a place has a salad bar, lunch sandwiches, a hot food section, a mini-Starbucks, a Chase branch, and standard grocery store fare and nobody, not one person involved with the planning of the store thought to put in a little area to eat in...kind of a bad move. So I eat lunch on their mobility scooters...I'm that guy

I'm really into couponing so a store that is big, spacious, well laid-out and fully stocked gets me all hot and bothered. OOooo, just thinking of the savings. Besides that they have a nice big parking lot, no more taking the elevator up or down to the garage you parked in.

Mixed bag of a grocery store. Value prices on items and especially on staples. However I am really disappointed with the meat department as well as the produce section. To top that, I have found some items I purchase to be expired (most recently by weeks). Maybe it's what I should expect with prices cheaper than Whole Foods and Treasure Island, but compared to my Safeway back in DC which I frequented for 5 years, I have never had such issues. Regarding the meat section, I have had to return meat a few times since I've lived here for it being rancid. It has happened infrequently but it has happened (I should note that I've never had a problem with returns except that it's a pain to go back to the store). However, what's worse is I have found meat sitting out that is expired. Even worse I have seen someone restock the cooler and found that what they were restocking meat that expired THAT day... Something is odd about their ordering/stocking process. This issue doesn't only apply to meat. Recently I purchased a "2 a day" fruit smoothie in a bottle and found them to be expired by two weeks when I got home. Again, I will continue going here as its close, cheaper, and has a good selection of stuff, but I just need to be more careful with expiration dates. On the plus side they are putting in more self service machines (although on a recent visit over half were inoperative).

When a shelf was empty of the product I was looking for, I went looking for a store worker to ask if there was more in rear stock. Nobody could be found! The item was in the back of the store. I walked back and forth twice and not one store worker. In hindsight, I could possibly have gone to the front and they would have gone back and looked and come back to the checkout, but I don't think that's the point. Anyway, I went there in a pinch and don't plan on going back. I'll stick to my normal regiment of Aldi, Trader Joe's, and Costco, filling in with Jewel on Ashland when I have to.

I hate this store. HATE HATE this store. The line is a miserable experience any time you go. I've been at all hours of the day/night trying to find the sweet spot where I don't have to wait for 15 minutes in a line. I can't find that time. It can't be because of the volume of shoppers. Jewel on Desplaines is as crowded, if not more crowded than this Dominicks, yet Jewel never has a ridiculous line. Hire some more checkers, seriously. You have 10 checkout lines, of which only 3 or 4 are ever operating at a time. Torture.

A little bit hard to get in and out of here except by car as it is a bit isolated, but a nice big store to swing by when I come back from shopping sprees in the North/Clybourn region. Just outside the busy loop so the parking lot is ample for a typical lot in Chicago. Otherwise pretty standardized for the store.
