I'm trying to get a job at a place I don't want to mention. Initially, my attorney did talk to me and she advised me on what kind of information I need in order to take legal action. I got what I needed but I haven't heard from her in probably a month. It's gotten so bad that I've tried getting ahold of attorneys with the same first name. No success. If you are having a problem with jobs or Special Ed please do not rely on this place!

They helped me with legal advice and suggestions. They are a nonprofit so people be grateful that someone tried helping in this selfish world we live in

I have contacted them twice now for a total of three different issues with my son that has special needs and zero actual help. It seems like they're not really helping anyone. Special needs people really need A REAL ADVOCATE that actually cares! So frustrating!

Overall very good generally. My son was put in special education at 3 years he's 40 now in prison since 15 his major charges writing threatening letters to Public officials. Very political so no one in Illinois will touch. Diagnosed schizophrenia at long time ago. Mental health adult group home is answer he has equal to life me too.Amanda has been helpful and Rachel as well. Dr Marano was let go from Joliet Dr Hurly why For years this organization involved in many issues. Today blown off in an email from Amanda same attorney last call oh dont worry call anytime. I have disability as well but in Peoria Barry Taylor blew me off fair housing issues when Advocates for access kept calling. Also Prairie state in Peoria no fair housing still homeless guys Tammy Duckworth screwed Peoria housing Authority.

Heard about them through a referral from another lawyer who was “too busy” to take on casework. Just like the other lawyers I tried contacting, they are also too scared to help with a disability discrimination case I have been hopelessly trying to file against a former employer for the last two years.Had two phone calls, provided details and then they disappeared because just like everybody else, they also want to avoid people with autism.

I was talking to a lawyer from Equip for Equality for a whole year now. When it came time to doing any substantive work they refused and told me to hire a lawyer. They are unwilling to do any work or see a case through to completion. They are willing to give advice so I have found them to be better than nothing. Just don't expect much.

They told me to file internal complaints and if i wanted a lawyer i'd have to get one myself. I don't know how... That's why I went to them for help. All they did was give me links that didn't help. I begged for help, some direction, anything. I don't understand, I told them I don't understand but they said they don't have the resources to help me. People like me don't have anyone helping them, if they won't help me, who will? I don't know what to do. I don't understand

Equip for Equality actually discriminates against the very people that need their help the most. Very ineffective, condescending, racist, inept and unethical attorneys. EFE should not be listed as a place that will help the developmentally disabled as the bottom line is the developmentally disabled really have no rights in Illinois.
Shortly after I wrote this review, EFE sent an email asking how they could help me. I never asked them to help me. My 68 year old developmentally disabled brother's civil rights continue to be violated by Orchard Village but since he is non-verbal, he has no rights according to EFE. Another reason why Illinois will remain one of the worst states for services it provides to the developmentally disabled.

I have contacted them for help for disability discrimination at work and they gave me vauge answers and little information to even help myself in this case. I suspect they were discriminating against me for being muslim. Of course they possibly think I am arab or black too not sure. They said they dont have resources to help in my case which would be very simple to resolve.

EFE is a wonderful organization that beautifully resolved an issue that I was having. I suspect that those giving bad reviews did not present strong arguments/examples of discrimination or were not truly disabled as defined by law. My situation was a clear violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act and I had proper documentation supporting disability. Attorney that unrepresented me (LA, you know who you are) took the extra mile to assist me. If I am ever in position to financially support this wonderful organization, it would make me very happy.
