NOT SAFE!!!! STAY AWAY - read their BBS profile before you even think about it. They lied to me, over charged me, refunded me change, damaged my property and NEVER RESPONDED TO ANYTHING.Their movers were extremely creepy, accused my roommate of being on drugs and made sexually joke while moving two young women.

I usuallydont leave these because I know it's someone's lively hood. I understand families have kids to feed and I also know some times not all workers are having a good day and not I also understand that when you have a family owned business you have to live up to that . I booked a move with this business cause I was told by somebody they reliable and I didn't go with a better known business cause I saw this business called family I never heard of these movers until some one said hey these guys are a family owned business . I'm all about family so I booked them. I'm not going to go into specifics but these guys are thee worse movers ever . I should have spent more money to get better movers. They quit before then even started . They quit one by one saying they don't get paid enough before then even came in my front door.

I booked with them Friday for a Saturday morning move between 9-11. It’s nearing 11 I call to see the status and no one answers I leave messages no one answers. Turns out they booked me for Sunday instead of Saturday. Fine I’ll wait even though ir sucks. Sunday my time slot comes and goes and no one contacts me. I have to call them! She says they are coming but late. They showed up 5 hours late with 3 men. One man walks off says he’s not getting paid enough by the company apparently. Now there’s 2 guys and they tell me they can’t move me with just 2 of them. No phone call from the owner or manager no apologies no rebooking. Nothing! Stay far away this has been the most stressful situation I’ve ever been in. Moving alone is stressful then to have all your things packed and ready and have to stay! Now I may not get my deposit back from my landlord. Horrible company extremely unprofessional

I shouldn’t even put one star, my experience seems to be the same as most reviews. Over an hour late, I signed for the estimated quote upon their late arrival which was $375, they packed my belongings into their van, I told them I’d meet them at the new apt, I took an Uber, I was at the new apt for more then 20 min before I called to see what was taking them so long, they said they were around the corners when they arrived they had snacks and drinks that they clearly just purchased from the 7-11 down the street, one of them exited their truck in the alley below my apt and urinated behind the dumpster, he also smelled of alcohol, before they started moving my things in, the driver comes up to the apt and now shows me a paper that is showing a charge of $592, I immediately asked why the amount had already gone up so much; they said they had to charge me for items they wrapped, (not discussed with me, and some items were already wrapped by myself, they explain that the move is gonna take 3 hours, even tho we were still well within the estimated quote time, they refused to bring my things up until I paid them the now ridiculous up charge, he then calls his boss to tell him I’m refusing to pay, I explain that they were late, unprofessional and one of them urinated in my alley, “Josh” the boss then tells me that I’m only bringing up the mover peeing in the alley because I’m upset, which is irrelevant. They tell me they will give me a bull “credit” of $30 for the materials, I was also told I’d get a rebate for any money I spent over the estimated move quote, i Zelle the payment in order to get my things out of their truck being held hostage. They finished in just over 2.5 hours, which would have been done sooner if they didn’t make a stop and started moving my things up immediately rather than try to overcharge me which I was clearly arguing. They did not leave me with a receipt, I have been calling and emailed them to get a copy of the hard copy of the receipt for weeks! No return calls, just a bunch of run around and lies, my move was on June 24th 2023, still no resolve, this company is in the business of scamming people. Do not trust. Update: They agreed to give me $75 back as a settlement, the terms of that was to update this.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST. Do NOT use the idiots. They showed up 30 minutes late. Had the truck 3/4 packed with somebody else’s move so there wasn’t enough room for our stuff. They argued and cussed with each other the entire time. And it was as if they had never moved anybody before because they didn’t even know how to take apart some of the furniture. Then wanted to charge us more even though they showed up late. Wanted to charge an astronomical amount for packaging, tape and such even though they didn’t even use most of it. These guys are awful and you should not move anything with them.

It's unfortunate that I am writing this review. I have used Family Moving & Storage for 2 previous moves in Chicago. Those move went smoothly and I had nothing but a great experience working with this company. Fast forward to my most recent move Summer 2023, and I didn't think twice about using this company again. I moved on a Saturday morning, the first slot of the day with an arrival between 9-11am. Prior to the move, Danielle confirmed with me because it was the first move of the day I could request an early arrival of 8:30-9:30 and it shouldn't be an issue. The morning of the move, they did not arrive at 8:30 so I waited an hour before calling. I called the main number but could not get through to anyone in the office. The movers called around 9:55, the individual was not friendly and quickly said they were 40 minutes away and hung up. 50 minutes passed and they have not yet arrived. I called back the number they reached out to me on, at 10:45 and no answer. I continued to try and call the main office number but still could not get ahold of anyone. The movers got to my apt. at 11:08.Packing went fine and we left my apartment at the exact same time. The drive took me roughly 20-25 minutes while it took the truck an additionally 50 minutes past my time of arrival. I was later told (after the fact of moving) that they can't take their trucks on lakeshore drive and this was the reason for such drastic difference in commute times. The bill at the end of the move was almost DOUBLED of what I was quoted because it took almost an HOUR longer from them to arrive at the final address than it did myself. Initially quoted 375 and paid over 600.I had emailed Danielle throughout the day (when they were late to the first apartment and when they were late to the 2nd) as documentation and asked for someone to call me on Monday. I never received a call back. I have now called half a dozen times with no resolution. At first it was because they were short staffed so they would have to get back to me. This happened several times, but they never did get back to me, I had to call back every time. Finally when I called back in August (two months after the move), she stated because the tracking system shows they didn't make any unplanned stops they can't refund any money. She offered a 25 refund for the inconvenience of the situation and waiting this long, which I have yet to receive. My concerns with this whole situation are A. When a company is providing an agreed upon service they should be reachable. It was extremely frustrating not having anyone in the office the day of the move to reach when these issues occurred. B. They movers did not acknowledge they were late or offer any sort of compensation for being late. Still grasping with how they showed up late to the FIRST move of the day. C. The company never disclosed when I provided my moving addresses that they couldn't take main roads which would lengthen the trip and cost more money, plus they had both addresses for the quote so that should've been taken into consideration with the quote. D. The amount of times I have had to call to get some sort of resolution is extremely unprofessional. They never ONCE called me back. And finally, a 25 refund was almost insult to the wound; they were late, unreachable the day of the move, took almost an hour longer to travel, and unprofessional handling the issues.I sadly WILL NOT be using them for another move in Chicago.

Booked a 2pm to 4pm move. They didn't bother to call or answer the phone until 3:30pm. Then Josh tried to pass it off as saying, it was a 2pm to 4pm arrival time. It wasn't. And it wouldn't work because most places only allow a 3 hour window. Scrubs.

Hired a 3 person crew for a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom move. I was quoted for 3 hours of work with 3 workers. The team showed up 3 hours late and outside the window of our building move out time which presented its own difficulties with our apartment complex. The move too longer than 3 hours and we were charged for additional materials that we were not originally quoted and ended up paying over $300 more than our original quote. When I asked about any compensation for being late and the additional costs, we were offered a $30 compensation without an apology.

Extortion ring. Worst business ever! Read all the reviews. I fell for the overall star rating. Many of the reviews are fake! All of the real reviews are 1 star. The cost ended up being 3 times the estimate. Not because of our fault or unknown facts or circumstances. We have a detailed list of what we had, the move in and move out times, the move out and move in location. They were late by 2 hours. Took 6 hours to do 2 hours worth of work while the guys were taking smoke breaks. We missed the move in window at the new place. Had to pay for a hotel for 2 nights and basic necessities. They laughed in our faces. They argued with us for an hour on the phone where they non-stop talked over us (I’ve never experienced something like that). At the end of the day, they forced us to pay 3 times the estimate by threatening to take all of our belongings away. They said they were being “gracious” by waiving the “storage fees” for keeping our things over the weekend, which was only needed because they didn’t do their job! Never mind the incredible inconvenience it cost us, along with the wasted time and two weekend days lost that we could have used to unpack. They threatened us over the phone. Oh by the way the movers were all immigrants who did not speak a single word of English. Nothing against immigrants. My point is more that they didn’t speak any English which made it impossible to communicate with them efficiently (we used google translate). They also just did not care that we were being extorted. This company is the biggest extortion ring. DO NOT USE.

Hired a 3 person crew for about a 3 hour move & they did a great job! They showed up & it was their second move of the day, but they were very efficient and immediately got to work! The move took a little over 2 hours, faster than we expected, & nothing was damaged at all! Only negative thing I would say is they were about an hour & a half late due to the move before us, but other than that they were great!

Showed up 1.5 hours late, not communicative, slow move, over charged for unneeded materials, failed to take apart bed. One guy basically stood around and watched while the other two struggled to do anything quickly or correctly.Danielle gave a terrible quote and based on other reviews, it seems that’s the norm. Basically tack on 2 hours and $500 to whatever she would tell you.Do not recommend this company, just go with a more reputable one and save yourself some hassle. The only positive is that they didn’t break anything…

Had a moved scheduled for June 1 2023. Long story short it was the absolute worst moving experience of my life. The movers were disrespectful the staff was condescending. Final price was 2x what they quoted! I’m looking to report them to the alderman. Complete and utter scam!

They were very unprofessional, rude, does not tell you in advance that small things like big plastic bags or cat hair on anything will be charged. They will find a way to charge you extra once they start moving things around. They will fight with you even if you have questions. Arrived 3 hours late on top of the rudeness. Sneaky business. STAY AWAY
