First Ascent has to be one of my favorite places. Everyone there is so friendly and supportive. Their climbing walls have great variety, there’s a fully equipped gym space, and I love all the yoga classes I’ve taken there.

Love coming to First Ascent! The routes are always challenging and well set, the staff is super friendly and they've managed to build a really wonderful little climbing community. The yoga classes are great and there's even a gym area if you're into that sort of thing!

I love First Ascent! I most frequently visit the Humboldt Park and Avondale locations. The routes change regularly and they are offering more and more climbing classes and meet up events, which I appreciate. FA has a community feel that I haven't experienced at other gyms.

We have climbed at 4 bouldering gyms in Chicago and FA humboldt park is the best. Great mix of problem difficulty, large space for bouldering, and free yoga classes!! I also enjoy traveling to the other FA gyms about every 1-2 months for some variety.

FA Humboldt Park is such a great space. Of all the FA locations and out of all the other climbing gyms in Chicago, FA Humbolt park has a truly special community! That’s not to mention the great setting, the epic slab wall, and the work stations that look out onto the Sunset out of the glass garage doors (the perfect place to watch the sunset and work.) humbolt is definitely my favorite gym in Chicago but I dare you to try it and see for yourself.

Fantastic vibes, amazing staff & community, and week after week the setters set straight BANGERZ. Been an FA member for several years and Humboldt is my favorite spot by far. If you want to get really strong, climb here :)

My partner and I frequent both the Humboldt and Uptown gyms, and have always had an awesome experience at both.I love how open and airy the Humboldt location is, which makes it feel a little more open, especially on busier weekends. Staff is always very nice, helpful, and welcoming. Bathrooms/lockers are clean and well stocked. Also, I appreciate how often routes are reset, which keeps it fun and interesting, while also allowing us to master a problem before it gets replaced. Thanks FA for an awesome climbing experience!

Has been my go-to climbing gym for the last 4 years. Friendly staff, great setting, and more than enough workout equipment. First Ascent is a great organization, and all of their gyms are amazing. Now just add saunas!!!

I love the ability to go to any First Ascent gym in the city with membership. Each gym has a unique feel and varied problem sets. Always clean and organized. Weight areas are constantly improving. Yoga classes are awesome!

I’ve been a member here for just about 3 years and this is a great gym! New routes are set weekly, the fitness and training area has a variety of equipment, and the free (with membership) yoga classes are awesome.

Super solid gym! Great for beginners to get started and endless options as you get better. I’ve only had good experiences w staff. I also appreciate a gym w free weights/racks/rigs, nice concept 2 bike erg and towers, assault runner. Give this place a try if you’re curious about climbing. Please be mindful that this is a real gym and not a playground for for kids!
