I was in Chicago for the day from my home 100 miles away. When I returned to my car after lunch, it made a loud, roaring, noise. I called Gateway after doing a search for a nearby car repair place. Nico (I think) offered to look at my car, even though he knew he wouldn't be able to repair the then-unknown problem unless I could leave the car for a couple of days. Much to his surprise, he found that my catalytic converter had been stolen. He reassured me that the car was safe to drive for the time being, offered me water and the opportunity to use the bathroom, and charged me nothing! A great and comforting experience!

Everyone here is incredibly kind and welcoming — a special shoutout to Nick! I only stopped by to have my license plates bolted in, and they took care of it within minutes with such genuine friendliness. They made the whole process effortless and stress-free, which I truly appreciated. It’s rare to find a place where people are not only professional but also so approachable and caring. I’ll definitely be coming back for any future car needs. Highly recommend!

I cannot thank Nick and his team enough for helping me with my car issues!! Serious, life-savers. I had a last-minute issue where I locked myself out of my vehicle and had to move my parked car due to street construction, otherwise it would have been towed. And my weekend would have been ruined in so many ways. Nick was so timely and responsive and was able to get into my car and retrieve my key so it could be moved. It was a high-stress situation and I'm sure the last priority that the Gateway Auto Service team wanted to deal with since it is such a stupid silly mistake for someone (me) to make. They handled the situation with care and urgency, despite not having to because it was ultimately my dumb mistake. I could seriously cry tears of joy.
Nick and the Gateway Auto Service team saved my Friday. I cannot recommend this place enough and have been to the shop previously for other appointments and am so thankful to have found them. Gateway Auto Service is extremely trustworthy, reliable, honest, and professional. Very much a place that takes care of their neighbors and goes that extra step, even when they don't need to, because they are genuinely helpful and good people. Those qualities at an auto shop are extremely difficult to find in a big city and especially myself, being a younger woman with no knowledge of cars...being in a position where you can be easily taken advantage of in that regard, you don't know who you can trust.
Gateway Auto Service is the best of the best in every way.

Our car broke down downtown and we had ot towed to Gateway because it's near our home. We gave no prior notice and showed up on the tow truck as soon as they opened. Nick wa gracious and professional and let me know how they would proceed and the timetable. Diagnostics indicated a new battery wold solve our problems so they ordered and installed it and we had our car back by 4 pm the same day. Five stars would definitely recommend for pricing, professionalism and efficiency!

My engine light came on first thing in the morning so I took it straight to Gateway Auto. They fixed the issue and I had my car all fixed by the end of the day! Great communication and very timely. They even noticed my key battery was dead and replaced it for free. Love having them in the neighborhood!

We are lucky to have this auto shop so close by. Great service! We have been taking our car here for a few years, they are always very clear about what’s needed and they really help you understand what’s going on. Nick is super friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
