About Golden Gate Funeral Home
Golden Gate Funeral Home was founded by the late Ernest and Vera Edwards over 45 years ago. Ernest and Vera Edwards, "Brother and Sister Edwards" as they were affectionately called, began their funeral service business while under the tutelage of several of Chicago's prominent funeral directors. Brother and Sister Edwards quickly distinguished themselves by providing "Service with Sacredness and Dignity." At one time, Golden Gate Funeral Home was the only African-American funeral home in Chicago to have a completely white fleet of limousines, hearses and flowers cars.
