Guitar Center Central Chicago is a huge store with a massive selection of amps, drums, keyboards, recording gear, DJ equipment, lighting, and more from top brands. It is an awesome store with many options for musicians, described as a musician's playground with neatly organized instruments that entice you to try new things. The store is very clean. Customer service experiences vary. Some employees are great people, very friendly, and offer expert assistance, with some providing exceptional, patient, and knowledgeable service that represents the best customer service experience. However, at other times, service can be lacking, with customers waiting unattended while employees socialize. The condition of instruments is a significant concern. The acoustic guitar room is a horror show, with most guitars having bad fret buzz and not being in playing condition. Electric guitars and basses are in slightly better condition, but still problematic. It is not recommended to use the in-store tech service, as they are neither skilled nor trained enough. The store offers classes for various instruments, with some instructors being absolutely fantastic with incredible knowledge. Overall, while the corporate policies and instrument maintenance are criticized, the store itself provides a huge selection and can be an enjoyable experience with good vibes.
