I got my cat from harmony house about two months ago, it was a great shelter and a very easy process! I loved that they included no declawing in the contract. He was originally Dizzy Gillespie, now he’s Pascal!

If you have a dog, there is apparently a different process that is not outlined online. The manager was trying to explain it to me and it appeared that it is pretty ad hoc.
Additionally, it sounds like the data on the cats online is not the most accurate so I would recommend calling and getting all the information before spending money on a ride to and from.
Would recommend making the process clearer before they confirm appointments.

If I could recommend ANY shelter, it would be harmony house! This shelter truly cares for its animals and makes sure they are well taken care of. Truly amazing people!!!! I got my kitty about a year ago, and I still think about this shelter and how amazing the process was.

I adopted a cat from them a few months ago. The girl I dealt with was extremely rude and disrespectful. They told me the cat I adopted was healthy and they showed me all this paper work. When I got him home he had extreme diarrhea. The cat was so thin I could see his ribs. I took him to THEIR vet. They told me he has a flutter in his heart and blood in his stool. I gave him a whole series of antibiotics and two months later he still has diarrhea. When I adopted him he was eating food that was so old and dried out, it had obviously been sitting their for days. This is the third time I'm posting this review because they keep calling me a liar and that I'm not in their records and I can't respond to these evil women. I'll post paperwork and pictures if need be.

Best cat shelter in Chicago! We went to a few before meeting our boy Pepe (Falo before) here. Clara (I think her name was) was very nice and introduced each cat to us. They know all their names and their personalities. That shows how loved the cats are in here. And there are a lot! The staff and volunteers care about the cats and they made it so easy for us to get Pepe home. We love him. Thank you so much Harmony House for Cats!

Clean facility, the employees are friendly. They took their time with me and let me go room to room. I wanted an all black male & finally when I got to the last room there he was. His name (was) marilth goth but I changed it to (Halo). He was so shy when he got home but now he loves his new home! They answered all my questions. I recommend them if you want to adopt a cat.

Harmony House is the best! I’ve adopted two pairs of cats through the years and HH is the best matchmaker around. The staff loves every cat in the shelter and does their best to give them a good life and find them their forever home.

August 17, 2020, I brought this handsome devil home from Harmony House. Paws Gasol is still a wonderful addition to the family. I could tell he was well taken care of during his time there.

We adopted Okja 6ish years ago. He was (still is) personable, handsome, and the staff knew he'd be a big hit as soon as they got him. When my fiance met him (formerly Gomez Adams), he knew this beauty was the boy for us.The staff was kind, considerate, and helped us determine if we needed a second. They tested him with a kitten for us, and advised us, appropriately, that he was a little too playful at that time. They could have easily just went for the sale; however, they cared more about the best situation for all kitties and kittens.We were lucky they helped us adopt him so quickly and painlessly. We are so happy. He's a good boy, and his health is incredible. We're really lucky to have found him and had HHC's help in prepping him for a domestic lifestyle.

We used Harmony House to adopt a senior cat in 2019. She had been adopted out and brought back and had biting issues. HH had us visit three times before they were comfortable letting a special needs, and already adopted and returned, cat go home with us. They were very helpful and our sweet kitty has been with us ever since, even at 16 she's playful. She doesn't bite anymore, is incredibly affectionate, and loves people. As a cat that was labeled as very difficult, HH clearly did a great job at caring for her, even when they thought she'd likely never be adopted out. Highly recommend.
