Long story short my parents have been with Liberty Bank for 50+years. My father passed away in 2020. My Mom has recently been diagnosed with a few serious illnesses. She has a few Drs appointments a week. She overdrew her account. She normally does not do z. She called and spoke with someone and told them that the money to cover the overdraft will be deposited tomorrow. This is the message she gets. They are reversing the couple bills that were paid. They clearly see she gets direct deposit a few times a month. They see that this is not something that is habitual. And can't wait for the money until tomorrow morning. Clearly 50+ years of customer loyalty means nothing to Liberty Bank

I have been a customer at Liberty Bank for Savings for three decades. I know everyone in my branch well, and I know many workers in the other branches well: they all are friends. During these three decades I've lived in Chicago three different times, in San Diego twice, and in Mendota once. I kept my banking at Liberty because I needed to be sure that my bank would immediately and professionally support my needs no matter where I was. I couldn't be more pleased with a bank, or with banking professionals.

Really frustrating to be an account holder. They can only operate in person. I'm unable to close a useless savings account (~0% Interest) without going to a branch. If they don't resolve this I will be closing my checking as well when I go to a branch.Edit: I called and it sounds like they were able to do it for me. When I see that reflected online I will update the score.Update 2: Got my money from savings to checking, savings still appears to be open. Not sure if that takes time.Update 3: It is not all resolved the savings account has not been closed. I was only able to get the funds transferred.Update 4 (8/18): He's saying it's closed below but there is ZERO indication in the app or online, nor an email indicating the savings is closed.

Great community bank! The customer service at the main location is super great. They are always friendly and professional and attentive to any questions you may have. They are also multi-lingual (English, Spanish, Polish) which is hard to find. Also the insurance agent is always helpful and committed to providing the best service and products available.

Super friendly neighborhood bank. They don't nickle and dime with rediculous fees like other corporate banks.

They pay low. When I worked there, it was only $6.50 per hour.

We moved to online banking a few years ago and didn't anticipate the inconvenience that would cause when we got married. Most people know my husband by his middle name and a lot of people assumed I'd be changing mine, so we had a bunch of checks that were causing us headaches with our online bank. Liberty is in the neighborhood and on our commute. The 9-5 hours M-TH are a challenge for us, so we came in later on a Friday. I'm an efficient person and having worked in financial services most of my career wanted to get down to business and open a no-frills joint account for us. I understand it's their job to upsell us, but when I specifically clarified that we would like to just open the account and nothing else, I felt like there were still lots of questions to be sure we knew what we were doing. I would've put this next part in the survey we were told we would get, but did not. There were two main reasons this review is 3 stars and not higher: First, we were asked for our companies and our titles. My husband went first and his company name and title are each longer than mine. When it came time to provide my information, the banker decided to shorten my title because it was too long. Again, not only was it shorter collectively than my husband's info, changing it essentially changed the functional description of my profession and to something stereotypically considered a "female" profession (even thought it shouldn't be). The kicker was, I could see that there was plenty of room for what he dropped off. After stewing for a minute, I asked him to fix it, which he did. That kind of unconscious bias makes my blood boil. Second, when it came time to sign forms, my husband again went first while I looked at the screen. You don't get the actual form to review, it's on a computer screen & you sign with a digital keypad. The first two signatures - account agreement and W9 are totally normal. I stopped him when I noticed he was having us sign a proxy form without explaining what we were signing and why. I probably would've been ok with it, had it been presented upfront, but we declined to sign the form because of it. I'm not sure if we should've been given the opportunity to set our privacy/information sharing preferences at the time too, but we were not. It was only when I was reviewing the documentation at home that I noticed the default setting is to share information. Unfortunately, this can't be done online, so I had to call to revoke our consent. Maybe I'm being generous with the 3 stars, I'm not sure. I will say that aside from the frustration of setting our account up, we haven't had any other issues.

One star for the inconvenience and bad customer service. Daughter has a minor savings account she started working in the summer and wanted to open a minor checking account she was super excited. Well her excitement was short live. The rep who assited us stated no State ID or passport no checking account. She said her ss# card, birth certificate and school ID were not sufficient to take that to secretary of state and comeback with an ID only than they would open her the account. Well she sure did not need one when we open her savings why does she need one now??? Why do I have to pay for her I'd while she is under age? I am going back but to close her account and take our business else where. No need to deal with this hassle and me paying for a state ID. Other banks allow to open a student account with her school ID and personal info.

Community banking? I work across the street from this bank, and we use their bank for payroll checks. They refused to cash my payroll check, from their bank! How ridiculous. I need an account with them to cash the check is what they said. Well now I will never be opening an account with your bank because of your shady business practices.
