Lillstreet Art Center is a fantastic gem in Chicago and a supportive community for artists of all levels. It offers fun classes and workshops in ceramics, drawing, and many other topics, all taught by working artists. The facilities are good. It also provides fantastic children's classes and camps. Students feel inspired and can grow in their craft with helpful teachers. The center includes artist residencies and a Gallery Shop with local artwork.
My favorite place in Chicago to take art classes as an adult! I’ve taken letterpress, sewing, and knitting classes. All have been totally worth the money. Small class sizes, lots of both instruction and making time. Kind and helpful teachers and a nice environment to make!
