Lori’s shoes is a local neighborhood staple and one I could not live without. Honestly can’t remember the last time I bought shoes somewhere else. I love supporting local, but this place truly deserves your business. Their selection covers every possible type of shoe you could ever need, but at a quality and price point you can’t find anywhere else. Unique brands and on trend finds too. The customer service is outstanding - everyone there is always soooo sweet and accommodating, going the extra mile for their clients. Have to give a special shout to Beth who helped me in a pinch and I’ll never forget that. Thank you Beth and Loris! <3

I've been popping into Lori's Shoes periodically for over a decade—starting with my first visit to the Highland Park store when I worked in the area. As a longtime fashion lover, I've always appreciated Lori’s curated selection of shoes and genuinely enjoy supporting local businesses.
However, my experience today was disappointing and left me feeling as though I was being profiled. Unlike previous visits where I was warmly welcomed and assisted, today's interaction felt cold and dismissive. While I was greeted, it was a dry “Hi, how are you?” with no response when I replied back. From my perspective, the associate’s body language was unwelcome and judgmental, and at no point was I offered help or asked if I was looking for something specific—the basics you'd expect in any retail store, whether it leads to a sale or not.
Another associate near the shoe section didn’t acknowledge me at all. I couldn’t even tell she worked there until I overheard her chatting with the first associate about going to the Beyoncé concert (the irony). Even though I had only planned to browse before heading to an appointment nearby, a more positive interaction would have easily encouraged me to return and make a purchase since several styles caught my eye. Not to mention, I was the only customer browsing the shoe area at the time...either of these associates definitely had the time to make an effort.
A third associate— I think organizing clothes near the entrance—did say goodbye as I left, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, by then the damage was done. Every person who walks into a store is a potential sale—and more importantly, a potential advocate for the business. Poor service doesn’t just lose a transaction; it tarnishes the brand. I hope this feedback encourages Lori’s to train all associates on the value of genuine, inclusive customer service.
For what it’s worth, every other shop I visited on Armitage this day offered a much warmer, more engaging experience.

It’s crazy that going to a brick and mortar shoe store is a rare experience these days, but it’s so nice!! Good selection of quality shoes too

Marissa was amazing in helping me over the phone when I called from VA. She gave me all the details I needed concerning a pair of sandals & she was so patient and knowledgeable! Unfortunately, my cell phone started acting up, so I had to order myself online instead of through her store. I highly recommend this location though, as I truly received top notch customer service!! ❤️

If you like overpriced Italian shoes with a side of racial profiling, by all means shop here. I was trying on a pair of loafers for my work trip to DC and she stood there the whole time and then asked if she could hold them behind the counter for me. Never coming back here again.

Chicago classic for shoes. I enjoy browsing and trying on shoes without help. Luckily I haven’t had a negative experience with workers since I usually go when it’s busy. Support local.

I am a local and would pop in every week or so to browse new styles. I got to know the store and various salespeople, most of whom were very nice (hence, more than 1 star). However, there is one sales lady who, from first meeting, was unmistakably rude and was clearly "typing" those who were shopping. Given this, I would try to avoid her and mostly keep to myself if she was working. However, she came up to me and asked when I was going to buy another pair of shoes, since "all I do is browse" in a not-so-joking manner (mind, beginning of the year I got a $300+ pair of shoes...). I politely responded with that I like to think about items before purchasing. One day, I walked in and, while I was browsing, my boyfriend witnessed this associate telling another to "not waste their time" helping me because I "won't buy anything". A few minutes later, this sales associate marched up to me and said something very nearly like "you really should be buying something today, you have to". However, I had, in fact, just bought a $150+ pair of shoes the week before! It was such a weird moment, I didn't know what to say. My boyfriend tried to awkwardly smooth it over with politeness. I have not been back to this store since (its been months), which is a shame because I did enjoy browsing and shopping at a local store with otherwise, helpful and kind people. I'm writing this because, sadly, I don't think this sales associate would've tried to humiliate me, as a customer, had I been a middle-aged, noticeably wealthy white woman -- which is truly something to reflect on. Everyone deserves respect. And no-one should feel bullied into buying shoes.

Went into the store twice in the last two days. Was rudely ignored by ALL employees present and you can tell that they stereotype who they give attention too. All the middle aged women who walked in after me received a hello and a how can I help you. I was in there for 15-30 minutes both times and not a single person acknowledged me. I was going in to buy shoes but felt so incredibly ignored that I decided to leave. A lady came in with her child 40 seconds after me on my first time there and they immediately said hello to her and struck up a conversation with. Thought I was being crazy and I brought my roomate with me the next day and she also noticed it. The lady at the front saw us when we walked in and completely ignored us and didn’t say hello. We are both students and I believe they stereotyped us and assumed we couldn’t afford anything in there which is there loss because we were prepared to both buy shoes. They should treat everyone despite age or how there stressed with respect, because they lost our business that day. I’m so utterly disappointed at my experiences there and hope to see a change of attitude towards customers. Clearly this problem comes from the managers and or owners and they portray an extremely classist attitude.

Lori's Shoes is a fantastic place for shoes. The customer service is wonderful and the in store staff are so helpful and the merchandise is on trend. For those people who have scuffs on their shoes, a shoe cobbler can fix scuffs with no problem. Who doesn't scuff up their shoes? Lori's is one of the only shoe stores still in business.

Unfortunately this is my last time shopping at Lori’s due to their poor return policy on a shoe that I hadn’t worn that often. I paid $218.95 for these shoes and only wore them twice before the what was supposed to be leather wore on the tip of the shoe. I was told that I must have scuffed them on something but aren’t shoes made to be worn? I called and was told to bring them in for an exchange and then was told there was nothing they could do once I got there. I am a small business supporter and will always be... This unfortunate experience will not deter from supporting other small businesses but Lori’s Shoes were done.
