This happened in April 2025. The short, blonde, larger pharmacist would not refill a nerve medication for me that I was out of. This was a normal refill my doctor had called in the day before.
Despite being in physical distress without this nerve medication, he continued to accuse me of drug-seeking when my doctor had written the prescription the day before.
He kept insisting it was because I wanted an early refill but I did not, it needed to be refilled. He even told me “don’t come here” despite this being my pharmacy.
Later in the day, his assistant called and apologized because they had actually not filled the proper amount the prior time I got the medicine refilled. They had only filled it 2/3 of the amount prescribed.
So it was THEIR FAULT I was missing this medication and left to suffer in the first place.
I wasn’t going to write this review as it has been months, but it still really bothers me that he immediately accused me of drug-seeking when he is in no way part of my care plan. I hope no other patient experiences this - and I hope this pharmacy addresses this behavior with their staff because of my other experience with a different pharmacist here.
Other experience noted:
The new pharmacist Tom is aggressive for simple routine needs.
I felt very attacked for just needing my normal refill. She said I was a day early, but my psychiatrist had called it in that morning and I’d never met her, so I’m not sure why she was acting like I was drug-seeking.
The interaction was so upsetting I did speak to the store manager who understood and said he would address this.

Pharmacist should find a different job .. very miserable person’ ii called early morning to see if they had a specie medication and they did my dr told me to make sure they do before she wriote it, and I forgot to mention to add my ID for protection because I had stolen scripts in the past this around 10am..
Dr gives me a new script of dosage and I get a text saying he won’t refill it, I told him that’s a new medication and HE WITH attitude he says no it’s not it’s the same one I see right here.. he checked and realized it’s I was right .. it was a different medicine, he then tells me “call your doctor and have her send a message of the okay an I’ll fill it” when I said “okay no problem” I guess he was hoping I would say never mind hang up? (It’s literally my prescription and it’s brand new, new dosage and no past of anything suspicions) he sighs angrily says “great!!” Like I just made his life sooooooo hard.. ??..
I had to bother My dr to explain the situation and she was annoyed with him as well being that it’s not a the same refill it’s a brand new prescription. And he could fill it but he’s just giving a hard time .. I call back 40 mins later to tell him I spoke with dr and he should have the message now or anytime he literally reads it and says wow yeah great I can refill it but please never call again and don’t call me so much in the future” …. I said sir you messaged me that you wouldn’t refill my prescription and told ME to call my dr for the okay I’m doing what you asked and he had a literal tantrum because I guess he just did not want to fill MY prescription .. he says that “your rushing me!! And this is weird snd your making it - … I don’t need these calls” ?? I never once rushed him or anything I am simply doing what my dr and this man asked me to do and just get my new medication. I’m very sorry you felt that I asked you do your job sir …
Script was ready for 4 hours he wouldn’t even call or send the message if was ready and he wouldn’t even check me out because I inconvenienced him THAT badly .. that was my first and last time using this pharmacy a person like that should never be in this line of work

Just updating everyone who may have seen poor reviews in the past with previous employees. The new pharmacist, Tom, is incredible and patient and thorough and kind. If you can wait until he is working on your prescription, then I highly suggest that you do. He really seems to care about the patients coming through and I am so thankful to have him as the pharmacist here!

I dread going here. One of the pharmacists is often rude for no reason. They've more than once not had the vaccine for which an appointment has been confirmed. You can't buy store things at the counter, so have to wait in line twice. Just blech.

Living just three blocks away from Mariano's in Ukrainian Village, it has become my go-to grocery store, and I have no major complaints. Despite occasional busyness, I've always efficiently found what I need, and the majority of the staff recognizes me, creating a familiar and pleasant shopping experience. The store is well-stocked, even during peak hours, though there's the occasional item shortage, which is expected in a busy grocery store. I've learned the optimal times to shop to beat the crowds, ensuring a quick and enjoyable visit. As long as I'm in Ukrainian Village, Mariano's will remain my preferred choice for its convenience, friendly staff, and overall positive atmosphere. Highly recommended for those in the area.

This is my least favorite Mariano's location. The other locations are larger and cleaner. Good selection of cheeses and baked goods, otherwise no better than other grocery stores. I came down on elevator 2 which really stunk today. Also found bad smells by the "fresh" fish area. Isles are crowded.

I have had two different encounters at this pharmacy, and both have been awful. The initial encounter was on Friday, October 6th, and the second one was today, October 9th, 2023, with the same pharmacist present. The first day, he said he couldn’t help me because “our lunch break is soon.” This was at 12:30, lunch break was not until 1. Today, I called ahead of time, scheduled an appointment online with my insurance info, and came 45 mins later. He once again was extremely rude, and said my insurance is not accepted. He lacks basic human decency and customer service skills, and does not belong in a customer facing job. 0/10 recommend.

The male pharmacist is extremely rude and has a terrible attitude. Try to asking him some simple pharmacy-related questions, he will scream at you and call you names. Stay away from this location.

This Mariano's is extremely dirty. Aside from 2 shootings occurring recently in the parking lot, the stairway down to the store from parking is disgusting. It doesn't look like it's been cleaned in years. Selection is limited and produce often goes bad within a day or two of bringing it home. We decided to try to shop there again this past Sunday, and despite long lines of customers waiting to check out, only ONE check out lane was staffed forcing everyone to use the self check out. The self check out kiosks at Mariano's are terrible. Once you scan an item, if you attempt to bag it in a reusable bag, the screen flashes a message "return scanned item to bagging area" and won't let you scan the next item. It is ridiculous. You have to let several items literally pile up on the bagging area before you can attempt to put a scanned item into your reusable bag. We tried giving this location another try this past Sunday, but we won't be back. I suggest others look elsewhere for groceries. Terrible place, I'd give 0 stars if that was an option.

Worst customer service ever! Clueless management. Witnessing an elderly person with a full cart being denied at the register, because apparently it's closing?? At 8.45??? You are open till 10 and you are still ringing up customers on the line. Why not make an exception and ring one last one???? Self checkout is not intended for that many items, let alone elderly. If your employees need to leave and rush out, management steps in. In case some employees have 0 common sense. Maybe someone has to be trained more. Or don't be open till 10 if your registers are closing at 8.45. People don't know that. The whole situation was unacceptable

This location has really declined in the last couple years. The selection is really limited, many things aren't priced correctly or at all, there's always huge carts and boxes in the aisles and I'm certain the freezers aren't cold enough. On the bright side, I rarely encounter an employee who isn't pleasant.

Since changing my health insurance plan several of my medications have been changed at once. The pharmacists and techs have been very helpful with explaining costs and new side effects. My care has been through a telemedicine platform which doesn’t allow contact with providers in between visits- even for refill emergencies. The pharmacists and techs were wonderful with brainstorming my options with me. They went above and beyond especially for how busy they are. Thanks!!

I hate this grocery store. The aisles are super narrow, it's always understaffed. Security stands around talking when there have been two shootings.

The grossest, cramped, annoying Mariano's in Chicago. I just learned that somebody was murdered in the parking lot this week. That makes my stomach sink. Can you imagine??? You're shopping for groceries and you get killed in the parking lot?

Called on a Tuesday for a prescription I regularly get every month. I was told there would be no way to get it in stock until the pharmacist came back from vacation on Sunday to order it. Of course when I asked on Monday if it had been ordered, I was met with the deer-in-headlights look. I was so mad I just left without saying anything. This is horrible service for a pharmacy! I'll be sending my prescriptions elsewhere from now on.
