My last visit in November 2023 was very disappointing And disturbing. I had not been to this location on 39 and King Dr in over a year due to a previous incident of poor customer service. The checkout person had no training or did not care if they provided the proper service. I asked to speak to the manager, who immediately accused me of being mean to the service person. So now I know why the service is poor, the management needs training too. I'm done with this location, it is convenient but not worth it.

Just moved to the community from the north side and what a difference a few miles make. Customer service is horrible and the store is dirty. I guess I will be driving north for my groceries. What a shame! Do better people, please!

Mariano's cake decorators should be a shame of themselves. They have no work ethic. No pride in their work bad communication skills on top of that. No integrity they all need aptitude test and the popcorn is way too salty all the flavors taste like nothing but salt

Each time I shop in this store, at least one of twenty items is wrongly priced when you come to the cashier. Today, grapes were $1.49 but rang up at a completely different price. When I asked the cashier, she corrected the price without much ado and the price fell around $4. The three large avocados were announced at $5 but rang up at 5.99 - or was I wrong? Much confusion is going on and each time I leave items at the cash register because the price seemed different from what I remembered. It has never been transparent to me as customer what the prices are and I meanwhile memorize them, so I can check at the register. Sometimes they do not indicate prices at all. Today, for example, string beans had no price tags. When asking customer service about what seemed to be systemic mis-pricing or constant confusion referring to the grape price, I was three times told that they 'can fix this for me' - even though I explained three times that the cashier had already been taking care of this one specific case today and that I wanted to let them know that this was more of a systemic issue that completely confuses customers. I feel sorry for the workers in the store. I hope customers will stand up against systemic confusion and misinformation in this store.

I absolutely love visiting my local Mariano's! It's a fantastic destination for a variety of reasons. The vibrant assortment of fresh flowers never fails to catch my eye, and the produce section boasts top-notch quality. What's even better is the fantastic discounts on vitamins, making it a one-stop-shop for my health and wellness needs. They even have a nice donut shop & Starbucks located inside that sometimes features a band that plays jazz!Beyond the products, the standout feature for me is the exceptional customer service. The staff is consistently friendly, helpful, and truly goes above and beyond to make every visit enjoyable. I can confidently say that my time spent at Mariano's is always a positive experience. It's become my go-to place, and I'm never disappointed. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a delightful shopping experience!

RATS! I shop here when I need something quick but every time I try to come it's never quick. So last night I went just to pick up a case of water and I ended up going to chip aisle and seen a HUGE RAT! It ran across the aisle. They always only have 1 side of their self check outs open so the lines are terribly long! They need to hire a sanitation crew and pest control! Just because it's in a black neighborhood doesn't mean we shouldn't get the same quality others get!!!

This marianos location was really nice for a long time but now its just the opposite. Its a shame you cant have a nice grocery shopping experience which "Marianos is known for" in this location. Theres a need for more cashier's and better customer service. The manager Reggie who is in charge of the front of the store... cashier's etc is a very RUDE man. The prices have become outrageous. Two bars of dove for sensitive skin soap was advertised for 4.99... yes you read that right 4.99 ridiculous. I went to dollar general across the street and got 6 dove bars for sensitive skin for 7.99. I really dont like shopping at this location anymore. As stated lines are long, very few cashiers and they added more self checkout but its a limit on how many groceries you have. Most shoppers have more than 20 items so you are forced to stand in the long line for a cashier. They have also increased security because of theft which I don't have a problem with but you see more security than employees being available for customer. This location needs a complete overhaul asap. Im going to start shopping at the one on ashland.

Mariano's in Bronzeville should be ashamed to sell its bone in chicken breaststroke! As soon as I got home, I began to prepare the chicken for storage yesterday. I opened it and it smelled quite questionable the next day I threw the chicken away. I lost a little over $8. I've noticed in the past when ordering cold cuts that the person cutting the meat had to place the first slice in a bag hanging from the counter where the meat was cut. Why? So, I asked. The person said the manager asked me to do this. (This incident happened last year). My obtaining a ServeSafe certification taught me much. Marianos do you behave like this (giving bad meat) in all neighborhoods?

Feels like walking into a prison. As many as 5 security guards at any given time. More security than cashiers! Maybe y'all wouldn't need to keep your grocery store under military occupation if you didn't have such insane prices. You're so worried about the community stealing from you while you steal from the community by price gouging.

I want Mariano's to survive because our community NEEDS grocery stores. But good lord, this location is just terrible. The customer services is abhorrent.Tonight, I saw a GIANT RAT--yes, a GIANT RAT run across the baking aisle. I thought I was seeing something, until I heard a woman in the next aisle screaming they she, too, saw the rat. I understand that pests need to be controlled and that we live in a city. But when rats are bold enough to run out in the open when people are walking the aisles?! That's a TERRIBLE sign of a full blown infestation. I just don't think I can shop at this location any more.

Mariano's is a subsidiary of Kroger . I wonder would if I could have used my Kroger card. I probably could have saved some money. Anyway this store had what I need which was bottle water. FYI:The City of Chicago charges a Bottled Water Tax. It applies to the retail sale of bottled water in the City at a rate of $0.05 per bottle of water.

Reginald the store manager is very condescending, has poor customer service and lack people skills. I shouldn't have to go all the way to the marianos in south loop or west loop to receive proper customer service when there is one in my neighborhood. I had to contact corporate to receive proper accommodations for an issue I inquired with Reginald about. He lacks empathy, understanding and honestly don't think he needs be working in this beautiful thriving histoical neighborhood with such a hostile and negative spirit. I have overheard how harsh and rude he speaks to the employees under him. When an employee tried to ask him a question to help resolve an issue and he looked her in the face and ignored her. Another greeted him and he only reponded with "wheres your name tag?". He needs proper training on how to communicate with customers and his employees. Not sure if he does it to the males but the women get a lot of the hostile attitude from him most.
