Our artist is Garrett and he's absolutely amazing. A true artist for sure with a strong attention to detail and an absolute perfectionist. We've had a few pieces done by him and my husband and I couldn't be happier. The rest of the guys are also amazing and are now part of our family. Pony, Raf, Tom and Gary are all brilliant artists and just a lot of fun to be around. The environment is so welcoming and chill.

I’ve been getting tattooed by Pony for 11 years and can’t imagine going to anyone else. He is honestly the best. Every piece has been perfect, and he always makes the process fun and super comfortable. The entire shop is welcoming and extremely talented, I will always recommend.

Been going to Mayday for 12+ years. It is always a great & positive vibe at Mayday. My go to artist is Pony the 🐐 & Tom. I could not be more grateful to be graced by their artistry. Everyone at Mayday is extremely talented from Tom, Ralph, Gary, Garett, & their guest artist. Might I add there is always good jokes & great food to go along with a great tattoo piece. They treat their clients like family & the positive live is always felt.

This was my 13th time being tattooed and my first here and lucky 13 is a real thing.
I cannot say enough positive things about the entire experience. I was tattooed by Pony and traveled to Chicago from NC for it. My first major travel experience specifically for a tattoo. The piece is gorgeous and legitimately the most comfortable tattoo I’ve ever gotten. Honestly 0-1/10 pain through. It was like I was scratching my arm. AHHHHMAZING!
But the experience itself was even more amazing. The artists and and other clients there were so much fun. I mean, it was like hanging out with some of the most chill people you’ve ever met in a great looking location. Envision going to a random party and everyone is awesome. That’s what it was like.
My only complaint is immediately afterwards I looked up all of these awesome artists to see their work and now I wanna go back for a piece by them all. So time to save up because as someone who loves to collect art this a shop full of amazing artists! I hope they do some shows near me and I can nab spots with them because I hate flying but I’ll do it if I have to. They’re that great!
Honestly, the talent level is only surpassed by the great atmosphere they create. I loved it. Start to finish.

Tom Osvath did an incredible job on my first chest piece, as someone with high anxiety he kept me as calm and comfortable as possible. 100/10 recommend Tom as your next artist and 10/10 recommend the shop in general. Great vibes and nothing but talent!

Pony is an artist!!! His detailed tattoos are amazing... and if you're not used to sitting for 6 plus hours and want one of his tattoos, practice sitting!! It was tough for me but the anticipation (and shop chatter!) kept me entertained!!!

I recently had the pleasure of getting a tattoo done by Garrett Harper and he is at the top of his craft. Not only is he incredibly talented, but also incredibly professional and his attention to detail is unmatched. It was a phenomenal experience from start to finish.
I highly recommend Mayday but don't expect to walk in off the street. You'll need an appointment.

Garrett Harper is hands down one of the most gifted, meticulous, and professional tattoo artist I have come to know. As a foreigner visiting Chicago from Singapore, it’s always pleasant to meet someone who cares about what is going on you. I don’t think the word regret is in any of his clienteles’ dictionaries. Till the next visit Garrett!

This is just my experience but I did not have a good time while at Mayday. It had nothing to do with the artist that I was working with or the tattoo that I got; I cannot speak about the individual artists or their work. I worked with a guest artist from out-of-town and they were nice and caring. However, my experience with the shop itself was not good. Firstly, there was the cleanliness of the shop. There was visible dirt on the floor so it looked as though no one had swept the floor in a long time. There were a lot of plants in the front of the shop that appeared dead or dying as though no one cared for them. The bathroom waste-basket was overflowing as though no one had cared to empty the trash and the restroom itself was dirty. There were many cobwebs, spider webs, and dead bugs all throughout the front of the shop near the walls and shelves and visible dust on all of the surfaces that weren't tattooing surfaces. This, in general, just made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable with being in the tattoo parlor. However, the cleanliness of the tattooing stations was good and professional. Secondly, there was the care of the other tattoo artists and people in the shop toward myself and the artist I was working with. Many ignored our existence, which is fine, I don't expect people to go out of their way when someone is not their client. However, there was filming going on in the shop for some kind of social media but no one asked myself or the artist if we were comfortable being filmed or present while filming was occurring. The person behind the camera and the people in-front of the camera never acknowledged our existence or work other than to tell us that we were not bothering them by working. I did not speak up because I did not want to be a bother but this felt very rude and dismissive. Finally, during my tattoo, after the artist and I had been working for hours, two of the other artists in the shop put on a movie at full volume on the TV. This completely broke my concentration and I needed to stop our tattoo for the day because it was so distracting. I completely understand different artists need and use different methods to concentrate and work, but this felt like a complete disregard for everyone else in the shop. Overall, these are all relatively minor things but they matter to me and they added up to creating an un-fun experience.

This place is amazing. I was there that for an event and the artists who did my friend and are were amazing. Super friendly, open to questions and very happy to make tweaks to designs. It's very atmospheric and gives off a chill but professional vibe.
