For cooks and diners, both. This place is a treasure trove of ingredients and inspiration.

I've never been here, but my friend stopped there on the way to my house and bought so much meat that they gave her free paczki! Hell yeah.

Bad experience here. I have been shopping at Paulina forever and I think the quality has always been top notch. I am always willing to pay extra for better quality but these guys are now officially FULL OF THEMSELVES. Since the pandemic they have raised their prices beyond what is even remotely reasonable. They are gouging customers by charging three and four times what other quality butchers are charging. If you have a lot of money to waste and you aren't able to make the trip to the burbs for a quality butcher that charges reasonable prices (or even Gene's Sausage Shop in Lincoln Square is a better option), then by all means shop at Paulina's. $30 PER lamb shank? Honestly that is offensive. Their "reason" they gave me was that I ordered it online for pick up in the store. (I guess it is cheaper if you just come in and stand in line for it...still offensive at $18 per lamb shank AND they would be frozen or out of stock). Not only does this make no sense but it is also completely offensive. AND the picture online is a picture of TWO lamb shanks so definitely felt like it was a bait and switch but they did not want to even discuss how deceptive this was! When I told them I called around about pricing elsewhere, they tried to say it was because their lamb is from Colorado......every other place I called they were from Superior Farms in Colorado (same farm to be exact). The pricing for the same exact shank was $9 per and $11 per at the other two places that had it. Proof they are gouging. It makes me ill to say this but they just lost a customer forever. They need to rethink how they are treating their customers. Don't let them talk you into their "higher quality". Nope...they just overcharge people and seem to be getting away with it.

A true meat market. I have never had a bad cut here and the selection is incredibly inspiring for chefs. Staff is super knowledgeable and ready with advice for preparing. This is a Chicago staple for a reason.

I was disappointed with the meat choice that I made perhaps I should choose a different meat. It's just that there were stringy pieces in the liver and I didn't expect it to have that... There was also kind of an off flavor to it not how I remember liver to taste but I guess it is the only place in town that you can get a fairly decent cut of liver. I had my cat taste test and when the cat doesn't like liver you know something's wrong.

Amazing Meat Market

Hands down worth every penny and second spent with them. The brilliant red and pink hued meats at the counter are the crown jewels but the frozen section is where they stash the diamonds in the rough.

This place is amazing! Wonderful meat selection with everything looking like the best quality. Workers are knowledgeable and willing to go out their way to answer any questions you’ve got. Wonderful brats absolutely enjoyed grilling them up at home. Also their selection of game meats is insane. Ps. they have lamb, beef, and veal bacon for any non pork eaters.

A for sure “if you know you know” place. I wanna give a special recognition to the their staff who are all delightful. They are super knowledgeable and very friendly. Especially Jackie who help me cut the line this Xmas season in a mad house when I only needed one item. Pays to be a regular. Also sometimes they will be hosting local vendors which we love to see.

They have a great selection of meats and everything at a reasonable price. But they also have their own homemade pizza which is the best I've ever had. I am Italian and my #1 food my whole life has been pizza. I am 63 so I've had my fair share. They were out of all pizza except cheese and I asked them to replenish it. They did and now I'm happy again. The owner needs to be complimented which I've already done but so that other people know what a great recipe he has for pizza. The crust is like a pie crust and is out of this world. The best I've ever had. There is plenty of cheese and sausage and I can't speak highly enough on how good it is.

I came in for the first time and the guy behind the counter was SO helpful and kind. He helped me find everything I needed (even in the aisles) & the meat looks awesome. They also had a bunch of stuff I would not find in a typical grocery store. Will definitely be coming back
