I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the grooming service provided for my dog, Amy, a 9.5-year-old Shetland Sheepdog, on March 2, 2025, at the Petco location on North Orleans Street.
Upon picking up Amy after her bath, I noticed that the service was incomplete and poorly executed. I had to brush her while still in the store, highlighting the lack of proper grooming during the appointment.
When my wife and I arrived home, we realized that Amy’s undercoat was still damp, requiring us to dry her completely. Dogs with undercoats, like Shetland Sheepdogs, can develop serious skin issues if not thoroughly dried after a bath. Additionally, the absence of proper brushing resulted in tangles forming in her coat.
The staff mentioned that, due to Amy being frightened by the dryer, they opted to place her in a drying cabin. However, Amy has been accustomed to professional grooming since she was a puppy, and this explanation does not align with her previous experiences.
Attached to this complaint is a photo showing the amount of fur we had to remove at home after completing the service that had already been paid for at the store. While we requested that no undercoat removal tools be used, this does not justify the omission of any brushing or the failure to fully dry her coat.
Furthermore, we paid $52 for a service that was not fully completed.
Given these concerns, I request that appropriate measures be taken to prevent similar situations in the future and that staff members receive proper training to handle the specific needs of each breed. I look forward to a response regarding the steps that will be implemented and appropriate compensation for the inadequate service.

DO NOT TAKE your dog here for a grooming. After our puppy’s grooming yesterday, she was constantly crying and scooting her butt. She was left with a large red cut in her buttocks area. No wonder she’s been crying all day. We now have to take her to the vet since she was badly injured. The groomer did not make us aware of the mistake he made. We did not pay $75 and Tips for him to injure our puppy. Unbelievable!
UPDATE: It’s been 2 weeks and NOBODY from the team has yet to reach out to resolve this. Absolutely pathetic. Is this how you treat your customers?

Stephen G was our dog’s groomer a few weeks ago. He sliced her bottom area and did not disclose that to me when I picked her up. He even texted me on ways he prefers to be tipped prior to me picking up my dog, ridiculous. I’ve filed multiple complaints, sent emails and even had to take her to the vet for antibiotic ointment and Petco has not returned any phone calls or responded to my email. The vet visit was $140 after insurance, on top of the $75 I spent at Petco. The groomer is unqualified and should not be near animals. In addition to that, our pup is terrified of the groomers because of how badly he traumatized her. I will be warning everyone to not take their dog to get groomed here. You guys injured my dog and left her traumatized and failed to respond to all the emails and complaints I’ve been leaving.

Both of my Dashers on the same day said that the People here are so rude and not helpful. Also, Putting items on doordash that are mostly out of stock is ridiculous. Turn it off on doordash app if you dont have it!!!!

Terrible experience, I had a grooming for my dog at 8 am and when I got there the store was still locked up. We called every number we could find and no one answered. What a waste of time just sitting there. There was a handful of us as well all sitting here waiting for scheduled groomings and no one was answering anyone.

Last time I take my dog here! Second time I had a poor experience. Apparently it only takes 30 min to wash a large dog, comb her, dry her, trim her nails, brush her teeth, clean her ears and express her anal glands? Her nails were BARELY trimmed and very poorly buffed; ears still dirty. Doubt her teeth were even cleaned and highly doubt glands expressed. The attendant asked for a cash tip. Basically paid $80 for a bath and barely trimmed nails! I could have done myself for free. Was looking to pay to have someone do this right but this location is NOT the spot for that.

Moldy treats and rude manager! I purchased this bag of treats today, and after giving my dog one I noticed half or more of the bag was covered in mold. I returned them and the cashier, Omar, was super nice. But then his manager came over, a middle aged brown haired woman, and she was so incredibly rude and condescending! She didn’t seem the least bit surprised and dismissed my concerns.

Petco on Orleans and Hubbard is a fave place to shop!!!!! I adore how quickly their rescues get homes and they are so hardworking and FRIENDLY!!!!! A lost art?♀️

My dog got a terrible haircut! I asked for a shave but to keep his face more round/ teddy bear like and to trim his ears. They didn’t do that. His ears are not trimmed and whiskers look questionable. He was also super skittish after his appointment and he’s never been like that after many times at the groomer. We will not be coming back.
