I have been bringing my dog, Seven, to PetSmart for daycare for nearly a year, and while I do appreciate the care the staff shows him, there have been consistent issues that are hard to overlook. First, the positives: the staff are always welcoming and friendly, and Seven’s social development has improved significantly since he started attending. He enjoys his time there, and it’s clear the team does their best to create a good environment for him.
However, my main concern is that they do not listen to important instructions regarding Seven’s care. A few months ago, Seven was having stomach issues, and I discovered the staff was overfeeding him and not giving him his necessary probiotic. Despite asking them multiple times to follow specific directions—such as giving Seven 1/2 cup of kibble along with a wet food packet—I found out through documentation that they were giving him 3/4 cup instead. This kind of oversight is frustrating, especially when it’s a simple matter of following instructions.
More recently, I noticed Seven developing tear stains in his eyes, with his eyes dripping red. To help, I started bringing him filtered and bottled water. While they gave him the water last week, today I noticed the bottles I provided were completely full—they hadn’t given him the water at all, even though I specifically requested it. When I inquired, they said it had been notated but then ignored.
It’s incredibly disheartening that despite paying for Seven to attend daycare and spending thousands of dollars each year, they don’t consistently follow through with my instructions. What’s worse is that they don’t ask for clarification when needed; they just don’t follow through. After repeatedly addressing these issues, I’m frustrated and exhausted by the lack of accountability and communication.

I absolutely love the care and attention the team at PetSmart on Canal in Chicago gives to my pup, Seven! From the moment we walk in, I can tell he’s in great hands because he runs to the workers with so much enthusiasm, knowing they’ll take amazing care of him. Their genuine love for pets is so evident, and it means the world to me as a new fur mom.
While there have been times when complete directions weren’t followed, the staff has always been gracious and quick to address and correct any concerns I’ve raised. They genuinely strive to meet Seven’s needs, and I deeply appreciate their sensitivity and efforts.
One of my favorite things is seeing how happy Seven is with them—whether it’s playing, cuddling, or even being read to before bedtime (yes, really!). It’s the best feeling knowing he’s not just being cared for but truly loved.
I wanted to share some photos of his happiness and these special moments because they really reflect the incredible environment PetSmart provides. I’ll “fur-ever” stay loyal to this establishment, and I’m so grateful for the joy and peace of mind they give me and Seven! 🌎💖

There grooming department is horrible. I do not recommend to take your pet there. Took my pup for his first grooming service they were extremely unprofessional and were very rough with my small dog, when we picked him up his neck was very red. The women who serviced us told us since it was his first time they would call us it was to much for him but she did not and it took over 5 hours. Do not recommend

Would avoid going to this PetSmart. I had a basket with cans of cat food. Instead of taking each can out of the basket and scanning it, the person at the register decided it would be a good idea to flip the basket upside down, causing the cans of cat food to slam against the desk, and falling onto the floor. Didn’t get his name but it was an older white dude with glasses, and a big green ring on his finger. Go to the Petco on Roosevelt instead, way nicer and capable people. Or a different Petsmart

extremely hard to find. the only entrance is in the basement of the parking garage so it's dark with no windows. Just go to the Petco down the road. Much easier to access.

This place is in a dungeon, like what the hell? It's so hard to find, it's a short walk from Roosevelt station, but you have to walk down the car paths in the garage, as somehow only petsmart is not part of the building. The main building is a solid if basic mall with multiple attached stores, escalators, etc. And this is just in the basement, with no way in. It's very dark of course, as it has no windows, and was staffed by only a single person when I came by.
He was nice and I found what I was looking for, but this isn't a place that feels good to come to.

Hard to find this place, which makes me not want to come here. And everytime I came here to pick up my online order it was always only 1 register opened, which defeated the whole pick up and go(online order) purpose! Now i have found a new pet supply store with easy parking, no confusion or no hassle of picking up my order.

Hello, good afternoon, I need someone to help me find a rabbit! 🤩I have wanted to have a pet for a long time but I can't find one here!? Could it be that there is one in petSmart?

They need to do a better job with the signage. It’s super confusing to locate this store. I wasted almost an hour trying to find the store

I had the pleasure of being assisted by Anna with my dog’s grooming. My dog was treated with the highest quality of service by Anna. She bathed my pet and left her with the best end result I could ask for. Her overall skills and communication were excellent. I deeply appreciated her kindness towards me and her affectionate attitude towards my pet(she made my pet feel comfortable). I will come back here, as this has gained my trust in the place. Thank you for the lovely service, Anna!

I was in search of a dog trainer with prior knowledge or experience with dogs. I couldn’t find many trainers until I came here and was assisted by Bri. She was very friendly towards me and, overall, treated my pet like it was her own. I appreciated her commitment and her willingness to help my pet. Overall, I also appreciated that she knew what she was doing. I was better assisted because she has pets of her own and has first-hand experience with how to assist all kinds of animals.

The parking here is super confusing, so make sure you park in the area of the lot that says PetSmart or else you're going to be walking through the mall/ Whole Foods until you miraculously find it. Service is always great, but can be cleaner. Lots of pet urine throughout the store.

Good for shopping, but I didn't like it for bathing the pets, the attendants are stupid and not affectionate

When I asked if they had other green hornworms bc the ones on the sales floor were all dead, the friendly sales rep checked the back for more and found me a fresh batch. The sales rep was so nice and professional. Store was clean and had plenty of signage so it was easy to find products.
