Burnham Park Promontory Point is a beautiful and peaceful spot with a superb view of the Chicago skyline and lake. It is great for a picnic, to watch the city, and is very dog-friendly with plenty of dogs. Visitors enjoy it for a BBQ, to hang out in groups, or to lay picnic blankets. It is a great place to hang hammocks, with council rings and circular stone benches around fire pits. The park has a rich history and is very windy. It offers good vibes, is laid back, and has great scenery in Hyde Park. People come for romantic photos, to swim on the south side of the point, or to enjoy the trails and beautiful lake views. It is a favorite bike ride from downtown on the bike path, with a lower level next to the water and a few beaches along the way. There are lots of trees, friendly people, restrooms, and water fountains. Parking can be a little tricky but there are several options nearby. The playground is clean.
Had a lovely time sitting at one of 2 fire pits. It was sunny and breezy. We sat in the shade facing the beach. Lots of people right off the lakefront path. In Hyde Park!

A fantastic spot for a quiet stroll! The park is incredibly well-maintained and clean. It was great to see so many people out with their dogs, everyone was respectful and just enjoying the day. Highly recommend for a peaceful afternoon.
