Unacceptable Customer Treatment – Ross Needs to Do Better
I had an extremely disappointing experience at the Ross store . After spending nearly $250 on merchandise, I was asked to remove hangers from my own clothing items at checkout—“out of kindness” to help the cashier.
This is not just unprofessional—it’s completely inappropriate. As a paying customer, I came to shop, not to assist the store’s staff with their job duties. Being put in that situation made me feel disrespected, uncomfortable, and frankly, taken advantage of.
Ross is a national retailer. There’s no excuse for this kind of behavior, whether it was due to understaffing or poor training. I’ve submitted a complaint to corporate and will also be reporting the incident to the Illinois Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division.
Customers deserve to be treated with basic respect—not expected to do the work of store employees.

Nancy should find a job which allows her to be on her phone texting and laughing while on cashier when there is a line from A to Z !

The absolute worst shopping expierence ever. We needed to make returns. The workers check their phones pretending to be busy while youa re in line. The manager was super rude and cursed at us cause we had a discrepancy. We tried to return items and she stated she doesnt have time for that. If you like being treating like trash and constant beeping form security tags going off with disheveled cloths in every isle go here. Spend your money elsewhere. Do better. This place is a ghetto fabulous playground.

The Ross on Montrose is where I shop because of the proximity. It wouldn’t be my choice. I have had a few bad experiences at this store. Once I was charged for an item that I asked the cashier to put back and I was charged for it anyway. When I disputed the charge to the manager they refused to take the charge. I had the receipt and circled the item. You could see that I had spent over three hundred dollars and they wouldn’t remove the charge!
The second incident was when they left anti theft devices on a clothing item. I had to come back to the store to have a them remove the device. I spoke with a manager name Jose. He was so rude! When I told him what had happened he shrugged it off. He took the item and had the device removed. I’m paraphrasing, he said here problem solved.
I explained to him that the trouble it cost me to travel there and back home was more than the item itself. He said we don’t do that! I asked for him to call the District manager, he refused and said they don’t do
It again. He said you can call the phone is over there. I didn’t see where he was pointing. So I had to ask other ppl! I went over to the stand where and saw his picture as manager,Jose and a phone number so I called it and it was the number to the this store! So he knew that phone number belonged to the very store were standing in.
