Previously I used to buy, Mediterranean & Near Eastern groceries from on line vendors. Of course the shipping cost was added expense. I learned about Sahar International Supermarket. In itself as a supermarket, it is very impressive. The meat counter has excellent selections, and fresh lamb is uniquely impressive. Try the lamb loin roast (requires advance ordering), it is excellent. A chef described lamb loin roast, "the most delicious meat", try it at Sahar, you will not be disappointed. Among other high lights is an entire section with olives, shelf after shelf including selections from dried olives, kalamatas, & green imported olives. One product which I love, is the chickpeas cookies, an excellent choice to accompany a cup of tea or coffee. And of course the Persian nougats anther delicious sweet from middle east. I am trying to keep this short, but spices, herbs as well as jams and condiments deserve honorable mention, for freshness and high quality.

I love this place because the vast amount of middle eastern products and the freshest pita in the city of chicago! Customer service from the cashiers is amazing here. Fair warning: parking is terrible in their shared lot.

They are selling old meat. I won't recommend buying meat from them. I try to cook them but they turned to more worse. Really bad experience with them. Complaint them but they try to justify it by trying to be chemist.

It's an ethnic grocery store so you have to keep this in mind...I think it's one of the better ones in Chicago if you are looking for middle eastern spices, frozen items and ingredients. I think their prices are fair too.

Great selection of items for a fair price. I’ve been going to this store since I was little. I no longer live in Chicago but whenever I’m in town I always stop in for any hard to find items that are a staple in my home.

The items are super expensive, service is sub par, low quality items, serious SANITARY issues, I've seen cockroaches running around and when brought up to the owner he didn't seem to care. I wouldn't be going back worst in Chicago

I don't know where to start, I shopped here often as most of the ethnic grocery items I wanted could only be found here. On multiple occasion one of the items was rotten and I mentioned this to the cashier and he suggested that if this happens again I should bring it back for a refund. Boy did I make a mistake, when I asked for a refund the cashier goes silent and the owner shows up; man is he arrogant, is he rude and scruples. Guy was ready to cut my throat over $10 and kept yelling at me and refused to sell me anything he had the audacity of grabbing the shopping basket and throwing it behind the counter. Mentally unstable? Check, unfit to do basic human interaction, check. The guys thinks the he's doing is a favor and has zero manners, respect and humility.STAY AWAY!!!!!!

I will never walk into this store again!I bought two bottles of mint water, and both were full of water! It tasted like tap water! I threw $10 in the garbage! When I was checking out, one spice was under the three bread bags. The guy talked like I was shoplifting! Even when I left the store, he came to check on me!I spent $160, and the unprofessional cashier thought I was hiding a $5 spice!!!Also, they put unsold breads that are not fresh on the shelves and keep the fresh breads until they get rid of those! The store also sells fake saffron for $21!Outdated items, fake products, and rude staff who don't welcome whoever doesn't look like them! With this much rudeness, I am not sure how the business is still running! The reviews confirm I wasn't the only one treated like a thief! Also, I don't know why people trust this business as a Halal meat provider! How can you trust a store full of outdated and fake products?

Great grocery store, especially for Arab. However, some items are very expensive compared to other grocery stores

Small grocery store compared to the big supermarkets but the hummus and pita are made fresh daily. They are delicious. There is a small selection of very good and very well priced produce. The people there are very nice and very helpful.

This is a amazingly awesome store. The family that owns and operates is the nicest people I've ever met. I have been doing business with them for 27 years. They were at a smaller location but just as their business grew they grew in kindness. I will shop with them as long as they are open. I encourage you to stop in. Their meat selection is great! The bakery is great! The service is Great!!!

I live in the Northern suburbs, 50+ miles away, and have been shopping here for over 25 years for all my Middle Eastern groceries and meat. Definitely worth the drive for top products.

**WARNING EXPIRED FOOD OR FOOD WITH NO EXPIRATION DATE**Let me start by saying my dad doesn't go there any more as his last 3 times buying food from here ended up with him getting sick off expired food.In this last ordeal, I bought food on my own and when I I was driving home my dad had me check to make sure there was an expiration date on the meat because he had been deceived before by them, and sure enough, there wasn't. We drove back and when my dad respectfully asked to replace it, Ghassan a cashier who is 30 years younger than my father, treated him like a thief. Asking who checked us out of the store, even after my dad provided the receipt to him that clearly showed all the information he needed. I ended up not replacing it and just getting my money back because all the meat from the brand I was looking for didn't have expiration dates on them. I stayed quiet that day as I didn't want things to escalate, but I really regret it now.So, I'm leaving this review so everyone knows that they sell you expired food AND when you call them out on it they'll make you feel like YOU'RE the thief. When they, in fact, are taking your money knowing full well the products are old.Shame on Ghassan, and shame on the manager who allowed him to speak to customers in such a disrespectful way. And shame on the owner who is selling expired goods to people.I would never shop there again, and I would advise others not to do the same.
