Good energy. good attitudes.. very friendly. Yes you have to go to the process of calling 311 and this is temporary so they can help find a more stable shelter that fits your needs..

The building is very nice... But the staff are horrible. They are sleeping with clients. And If you have issues they advise you to turn the other cheek or they hurry up and transfer you . It's just a holding center for a homeless shelter they don't even give assistance for housing here.

This place is a temporary lifeline when you have to have yourself and your family homeless with no friends or family that will help...they will help when no one else will..

If you're white, you're literally last on the list. Read that again, if you're white they will literally boldly and confidently lie to you, tell you nothing is available while actually servicing persons of color on the phone every time you call. They are in a 1970s mindset here. If you're white and want a shelter bed, call 311 claim to be black and have a black friend do all phone contact with them. Super racist staff here. Don't believe me? Try it as a white person, then submit a ticket as a black person....watch which ticket gets a response, it won't be the white ticket I promise you that. Ms Cobb is about the only staff member here who doesn't play those games.

This place is located in the area of Chicago where people who live in the community nearby, need help the most. Yet, when a person shows up, who is in need of an actual help, for instance being able to use the bathroom after traveling 45 minutes in the car to get there, or being able to speak with someone about services they provide and how to sign up, they completely change up their helping attitude. The woman "Captain" who works there, immediately says NO. Perhaps that's why most folks don't trust services like these.

Came here to get help. A woman came out and began to speak Spanish. I said I need help. She told me to call 311 and that was the end of their help. Although I explained to her that I don't speak English well. Why and most importantly at the expense of whom does this organization exist, which occupies several brand new huge buildings.

Worst treatment of human beings I have ever had the unfortunate circumstances to meet. THESE people treat the place like a prison.I unfortunately got caught here during the pandemic and the staff made it even harder for the families there. Mean spirited people running the place. Hateful of any woman who has a man coming in with the family.

They were no help! I have called 311 and made two separate shelter request and still on the street freezing waiting for a call back.

Me and my Family were treated very well during our time of need. They did not hesitate to take us in. We were fed and placed in a private room until they found a program for us. The staff there were kind and respectful from beginning to end. Thank you so much Shield of Hope!
