My daughter just recently moved to the Roscoe Village area of Chicago and called me in a panic because her check engine light was on and her car sounded rough. I immediately thought her catalytic converter was stolen. Being new to the area, we did not have a trusted, quality mechanic to inspect her vehicle. Upon researching, I found Sun Auto Service and had my daughter contact them to take a look at the vehicle. Not only did they come out to get her car because she was afraid to drive it there, they confirmed that her converter was gone. They gave her multiple options to save her money and were extremely friendly and, in my opinion, honest. Service was quick. My daughter will definitely use Sun Auto Service for all of her automobile needs in the future.

This shop would have been given 5 stars if it weren’t for the fact they scammed me on the cost of an oil change and tire rotation. The oil change itself was $69.99 and the tire rotation was $165!!!! That’s absurdly priced as I called around to other shops after the fact to which they informed me I was overcharged. Most shops have a tire rotation included in the price of the oil change.

Fast, honest, and high-quality work. I brought my car in for general maintenance, and they installed new valve gaskets and fixed faulty headlight connections in less than a day. They also discovered and repaired an issue with my suspension that makes the ride smoother than ever in my ‘06 Saab 9-3!

do not feel like i would get ripped off here. friendly staff, very accommodating! came here for an oil change on my scooter, while they don’t specialize in motorcycle care and all the staffs were super helpful!

Excellent service at a fair price
We have been a loyal customers to Sun and Hugo and his family for nearly 20 years. Yesterday, I brought my 2015 Honda Pilot with 115,000 miles in for an oil change and tire rotation. They told me when it would be ready and it was finished as promised. Last year they diagnosed an oil leak and quickly fixed it. They have helped me over the yearswith new tires, new batteries, brake pads and rotors, and other maintenance items. My wife and I will continue to return for all our auto needs.

Been working with Sun for about 1.5 years to keep my low mileage 2006 Toyota Matrix XR on the road. This car has a reputation for lasting forever if you care for it. Yesterday, I presented with an exhaust rumble and was braced to deal with a total replacement running into 4 figures. Sun told me a heat shield had come off due to corroded connection parts (I think I have this right...). Anyway, they fixed it for $88! A mechanic with no scruples could have really taken me to the cleaners, and I would have been none the wiser. Sun is very honest, knowledgeable and competent - plus they are right on the 77-Belmont bus line. I am sticking with them for good!

Sun Auto Service--3201 Damen Ave. Chicago, IL 60618 More than 20 years ago, a friend told me about Hugo and his top-notch, dependable mechanics at Sun Auto. So I started going there for brakes and winterization. Since then, whenever I have car problems I use Sun Auto. Hugo checks what's needed and calls me with the details and cost. I approve the services my budget allows. Since I started using Sun, I haven't taken my cars anywhere else because he always does a great job, his rates are reasonable, and I can trust him 100%. That is rare, believe me. He is a nice guy, and everyone who works with him provides excellent customer service and top-notch skills. Over the years, he has done oil changes, replaced belts, fixed the water pump, etc. Since I have a Lexus, parts for Lexus are very expensive and Hugo makes a special effort to get the lowest parts price. One time, my car broke down and I was stuck in a freezing snowstorm near Lincoln & Lawrence. I called my road Insurance (Progressive), but after being on hold for 15 minutes listening to annoying music, they said it would take them 5 to 6 hours to send a towing truck. So I called Sun Auto and they sent a tow truck in 25 minutes.! When I tell people about Hugo and Sun Auto, they say it is hard to find dependable mechanics in these times. I know. They were thorough with their work. Super responsive when I called and Hugo was even patient with me when I provided the wrong part for the repair and allowed me to run out and grab the correct one. Service was fast and painless. Would definitely recommend them.

I brought my car in because it was overheating and died , I asked just my car to run again so they said it was the radiator , and thermostat & they fixed the radiator and as a "safety" job they Added 20 other things. My car is making screches and thumping now and rears off to the left (But its safe)?. I cant do nothing unless i buy "new tires" as i was told . My total was about $2300 .. Friendly people. But just make sure you bring a mechanic or know about cars because yu might lose out on money and more money to fix "new'' issues.
