Last night I needed to go to the CVS within our local Target. While there, I picked up some groceries. This morning I received a "how likely are you to recommend Target to others" survey. Gave them "0," with this explanation:
"Hate that you crumbled on DEI. Store last night was almost empty. Only reason I was there was for the CVS within it.
When your customers (and America) are so racially/ethnically diverse WHY WOULDN'T YOU HAVE A POLICY THAT REMINDS YOU TO STAFF WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS IN MIND??!!!" So disrespectful and short-sighted from a business perspective.

Convenient location, but the options when it comes to food feel very limiting compared to other stores

A good Target option, but not the best. It has a wide variety of products, at good prices.

The South Loop location is one of my favorite stores. Rather I shop online or in-person. Great Customer Service and I love their selection of merchandise. I've been shopping at Target for several years.
However, I had a bad experience at my favorite store last Saturday, 02/08/25 with store security team. My sister, brother-in-law, and I was shopping, and I noticed 2 white plainclothes male security watching /following us, and unbeknownst to my family! Nor did I tell them. (The 3 of us are all in our 60s) and I noticed, because my husband a police officer taught me to always be aware of my surroundings regardless to where I may be. If you're going to watch/follow people, PLEASE do so to everyone and NOT only to Black and/or people of color! This world is already in turmoil we do NOT need to add more unstable fuel. Thank you, Ms. Nita

A nicer, larger Target. Just a good as the one on State street. Just a bit more accessible by car.

I love target pick up for all of the targets especially the targets that have a drive up .you can put your order in park in the drive up spot and generally you will get your items brought out to your car in a very timely fashion. I’ve been doing it since before the pandemic and I absolutely love it

Staff is hit or miss. Sometimes very nice but other times very disrespectful and unkind. This is an entertaining location regardless.

I have lived in the south Loop near the target there before the target was ever constructed. So I have been a long time customer. Before online became a predominant way of shopping, I used to shop in store quite a bit. But as my schedule became more crowded, I started shopping online quite a bit. I’ve always trusted Target to be a reliable shopping vendor until now. after my most recent move within the south loop, I placed a $100 order online with target to be picked up after work with their drive and go option. I made a point of keeping my purchases under $100. At the same time target aggressively promoted throughout its app a $15 promotional gift card based on purchasing $50 of qualifying select home products. As luck would have it those were exactly what I was looking for. And as if to make the process easier, target had a listing of all of the qualifying home products available for customers. I knew I could use that $15 gift card at some point between now and Christmas for some additional purchase. So I made a point of selecting $50 worth of qualifying select home products, actually I selected approximately $55 worth of products. as a lawyer with 25 years experience, I’m not only read the fine print and promotions like this. I typically write them. I read very closely that the gift card would be sent to my email after the purchase was made. There was no other fine print to be found. when I went to purchase my order, it told me that my total was $96.63.. I completed my order, went to target and my order was brought out to my car. At that point I had forgotten to even look for the gift card. The very next day I was looking at my checking account statement and curiously saw two separate charges from target. One was for the products I purchased for $96.63 and a separate charge was made for $15 I knew for certain that I had not made any other charges last evening for any amount, especially for $15. I went back to my Target app to see if I could figure out what had happened. Fortunately, the evidence was there in black-and-white. My order number suspiciously had two invoices, even though I had made one large purchase. The second invoice was for all of the products I purchased that totaled $96.53.. The first invoice, however, literally said that it was a charge for a promotional gift card from target for $50 of home product purchases. The invoice also clearly showed that this gift card was charged to the same debit card as my other purchases. I then went to check to see whether I ever received the gift card and in fact, I had. I was truly confused as to why target would advertise a promotional gift card for the purchase of select qualifying items and then charge you for the value of that “gift “card and then turn around and give you a gift card. I had a very long intense conversation with two representatives from target including a very patient manager, who listened to every logic problem I pointed out with the system. it turns out that unbeknownst to customers, target was deducting a portion of the gift card value, as I was adding products to my cart, though I was unable to see that. Therefore, it felt justified in recouping that expense by placing an unauthorized charge on my debit card. Then in order to make me whole it gave me a gift card that I can only use at target after taking money from my checking account where I could’ve used anywhere. I explained to the manager that I never would have participated in any such promotion. Had I known that there would be unauthorized debit from my account because I only selected items from a predetermined list and I likely could’ve found less expensive items from the full inventory of target’s store. I felt completely deceived and ripped off the manager tried to explain to me that online gift cards don’t work the same way as in-store gift cards. I explained to him that online gift cards don’t work at all. There is absolutely no benefit to them. I was positively shocked that this is somehow legal in many states. I told the gentleman that I had lost all confidence in target.
