Best place in Chicago for a cat fix if you’re currently catless

It was easy to make reservations and the onboarding process was super easy (they just go over the rules before you enter the cat room)You get one free non-alcoholic drink upon arrival and about an hour to play with the cats. There are MANY cats of all ages. You can walk around and play with them, but most people picked a spot and waited for cats to come to them.I fell in love with a chubby orange cat named Jack Tripper

An hour in heaven.I was taken here as a surprise, and I could not have been more thrilled when I saw the signs on the window. After a short and efficient briefing on do's and dont's, we were ushered into the 'airlock' where our group left our jackets and bags, and then through just one more door into the arcade itself.Cats! Cats everywhere! Some coming over to say hello, some already napping, some peeking shyly around the corner of a well-loved Ms Pacman arcade machine.Key rule is 'dont pick up the cats' and so you find yourself edging up to either where they are sleeping or simply flopping down in a high traffic area and petting whoever's walking by.Maybe a little one will climb up on your lap for a doze, maybe not. You'll be happy either way. There's a 'winelist' of the cats in the room you can flip through, if you are curious about names or adoption options.I'll definitely be back, and recommend this place to anyone who loves cats and classic arcade games.$17 for the hour, which flew by.

Really enjoyed my time here, just wish it felt a little less rushed. If you love cats, arcade games or just supporting a good cause then I’d highly recommend.

Honestly it's not really an arcade, nobody played anything, but all the awesome cats made up for it. Wish there was a wider array of drink options.

I had a great experience at the Catcade recently. I visited with my husband. It is a no kill animal shelter with a laidback atmosphere. Visitors can stay for 1 hr with a fee donation (not refundable, must reserve in advance) to interact with the cats in an open room, lots of old school video arcade games, and a movie in the background. It sounds like a lot going on at once, but it is actually enjoyable and relaxing. I was initially brought there for the first time a year ago for my bday. We have 3 cats at home, so cat-centric presents are a theme. The place is just a fun time so long as you are adult enough to honor basic rules. The cats just come alive with the attention, although I also appreciate the ones who can easily fall asleep with so many new humans in the room. The staff is amazing! I like the swag (bought a t-shirt). All in all, it feels good to do good just by hanging out. Also, it is a good opportunity to put in a cat adoption application for adoptable cats (most there can be adopted).

This was my second time visiting The Catcade and I’ve loved it both times. The staff are friendly and super passionate which I love to see. The cats were great, super cute, playful and happy to have pats. The place is really clean and you can tell that the cats are really well cared for.I’ll be making sure to come back every time I’m in town x

I contacted them about rescheduling my reservation 25 hours prior to the reservation time, the answered me two hours later with their 24-hour policy. I said I technically contacted them before the 24 hours were in effect, I got no response, I lost my money and I didn’t get to see cats.Beware, these people aren’t professionals, so if you need to reschedule make sure to contact them with WAY MORE than 24 hours in advance (they don’t follow their own policy) to avoid inconveniencing them and them pettily keeping your money as a result.

My second time visiting and we booked two hours back to back. I highly recommend that you book a back to back session if you're a super cat lover. My first visit we booked only an hour and it flew by fast. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The overall environment is small and intimate, but plenty of space to find your own corner of the room to interact with the little kitties. It's fairly clean, but if you have allergies, make sure you're prepared. It's a chill experience, where you can sit with a cat in your lap (if they approach you, you're not allowed to just pick up cats). You can play some video games, arcades and an N64. Or watch a movie that's playing in the background. There's lots of natural light from the large windows.I believe you can also adopt cats here, but you should ask the staff for more information. It's a fantastic experience for any age and I highly recommend it!
